I can't see any real reason for it other than it was a bug they didn't anticipate (they didn't add in that it would reset until after transfers were out for about a day), and they just don't want to fix it.

this is pretty much what i think, also.

i know i read the faq thoroughly with no mention of this.

i reread the faq after the faction change went through and saw that i lost crusader status and then saw they added it in as a note.

hopefully they fix this as it was pretty obviously a bug.

i mean...30 dollars for faction change and you have to do a month's worth of work for crusader status again? lame

It was in the FAQ the night it came out when I did it on my druid. And it was released at 4pm PDT, and I am on the east coast so that was 7 for me, I probably did it around 9.

it wasn't originally in the FAQ, it was added it later after it already happened to some people.

you can even check the original version of the faq on mmo-champ

It resets some things and not others. I switched on one toon. I lost my title for the city he'd become champion of and had to start the quests from aspirant. I didn't, however, lose my squire/gruntling and also kept some of my achievements like the 'lance a lot' one and the one for beating the black knight. Kept all my chamnpion seals and a gear item I'd got with seals got changed to the other faction equivalent.
Can't see any logical reason for making people start the argent dailies from aspirant again though since there's really no difference between the way horde and alliance do it.

exactly.

there is absolutely no difference to the way horde and alliance progress through the tournament, hence my confusion about this.

if this is intended, then i can only explain it as a way to force the AT to remain relevant.

if this is not intended, then is blizzard just leaving us all out to dry even after shelling out 30 bucks?

I lucked out & was 2 days away from turning in my valiant seal with the last city for crusader, so I transfered with 18 valiant seals, still sucky but shaves off a couple days.

If you look in your quests completed achievements you will see that you lost quests completed. Now we keep the achievements we already have but at the moment you have a lot of classic, BC, and Wrath quests open to you again. The quests are the faction specific ones. I personally lost about 1000 quests, but I am happy with it. I can do all those quests over again for gold.

I don't think it was a bug per say. I think that they wanted some gain/loss built in to deter the amount being switch maybe...

Probably this. The AT progress seems to be based on a chain of daily quests, and since your list of completed quests gets changed out IIRC, it only stands to reason that any record of your AT progress would also be reset.

Welcome to Northrend, where the Druids level up feral and the Hunters level up Death Knights.

Also, welcome to RL where [Common Sense] is an epic drop.

i got burned by this as well. Read the origional faq and i am pretty sure there was nothing in there about the tourney reset. That note about it came out after the origional faq. Opened 2 tickets because I dont want to do those quests again. No good response. They botched it.

it does suck that this wasn't put into the original FAQ, because i read it carefully also. I wish they would do something about it since a lot of people were caught off guard by this

I'm responding to this thread because it's written in a calm and concise manner, so thank you for that.

Simply put, while it was not a decision we enjoyed making, due to the way the Argent Tournament functions it was not feasible on a technical level to properly switch progress between factions. I am sorry we were unable to offer a better solution.

It might seem easy to see how they can turn a crusader of one faction to a crusader of another, or maybe even someone who was just a champion of their race's home city, but how would they do it for someone who had only championed a few of the home cities?

You could say that Orgrimmar corresponds with Stormwind, but what if you switch from an Orc to any race other than human?

Edit: Oh, didn't know about the FAQ. Never mind.

Oh wow. That's pretty unfortunate. Looks like I will have to grind those seals and get the last heirloom gear before swapping my main D:
