0. "You're not in a party" error 08/05/2009 01:27:32 PM PDT
keeps flooding my chatbox during battlegrounds
out of battlegrounds I get "You're not in a guild" error messages
also the ui is shifted off the page to the left making you unable to read all of quest text info

Thats an addon causing it.
You need to track down the addon causing it, and update it or stop using it if you don't want to see that msg anymore.
And the UI shifted to the left.... Is also addon-related. Probably package related. My bf had this problem with the new version of Arkive today. He went into the game options, set to windows mode, and the clicked maximize, and it was all fixed.

I steal from Mal because I care.
Q u o t e: It sounds like this is a UI issue, potentially related to outdated Addons. It would probably be a good idea to copy your Addons folder into a safe location, then perform the following steps to fully reset your user interface:
Q u o t e:
1) *IMPORTANT* Exit the World of Warcraft to your desktop by logging out of the game and exiting. If World of Warcraft isn't closed, then these steps won't have the desired effect.
2) If you used an "installer" for a custom UI, see if it has an "uninstaller" and use it.
3) Inside the World of Warcraft Program Folder, delete the "WTF," "Cache," and "Interface" folders.
4) Restart your computer.
5) Please do not reinstall Addons prior to testing the issue you were experiencing.
6) Make sure that you are using WOW.EXE or LAUNCHER.EXE to start the game. Please do not run any UI installers beforehand, as we want to eliminate them as part of the issue.
7) Upon launching the game, you should see the Intro cinematic movie and be prompted to agree to the Terms of Use. Once you authenticate past the login screen, the “AddOns” button should no longer be visible at the lower left corner of the character selection screen. Both points mentioned previously must hold true if you should complete the aforementioned steps correctly.

That apparently doesnt fix it as I read another post from someone saying that they are getting it with a fresh windows and wow install with NO addons installed. Any other suggestions?

I had this problem caused by the mod "Capping" (a mod used to track BG timers). You can fix it for that mod (and likely others) with this mod: http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info14444-YouArentInAPartyFix.html
I know mod stacking can cause problems, but I use very few mods and adding this one fixed the problem without causing any others yet.
