It was mentioned in another thread that Blade Ward was buffed in 3.2, however I don't see any sort of mention of Blade Ward in the patch notes. Is there proof of this claim, or is Blade Ward still the same? If it has been changed, is it now worth using over Blood Draining/Accuracy/Mongoose?

it wasnt a direct buff. Parry rating -> Parry percentage conversion was changed so that less parry rating is required for a percent than before the patch. So in turn blade ward got a buff.

I have the mats, just in case, but I'm holding onto Mongoose until confirmation is in. Also, my server only has one person that I know of with the enchant on Horde-side. He is charging an exorbitant fee EVEN WITH MATS PROVIDED BY THE PURCHASER for an enchant that might--- or might not--- be better than Mongoose.

I politely declined to purchase the enchant at this time. I don't blame him, not mad at him. Its a free-market economy, and he has just about sole proprietorship of a product that is in demand. I'll just wait:

1) to find out if it really is better than Mongoose, and

2) until others get it, hopefully someone in my guild.

Ah right. I obviously didn’t make the connection between the parry buff and Blade Ward. >_<

Still though, it doesn’t seem that the parry buff would make Blade Ward more valuable than the other enchants. Its self-consuming nature hinders it so much. I wish it had more charges to it, or procced more often…

Thank you for the reply.

So the damage, uptime, and consumption is all still the same? The parry, instead of providing 4% at 0 rating would now provide @4.32%?

Pretty sure that it will never be worth it compared to mongoose or even straight agility for avoidance , unless they remove the consumed on use from the parry rating bonus of it.

Proc rate when up a ton from last patch. Having 2-3 stacks on at a time isn't uncommon.

Blade ward and mongoose both kick the crap out of 26 agi now; the uptime on both enchants went way up with new SoV mechanics (and possibly something else is generating additional procs too).

However, dodge got a heavy backhand, bringing the value of the agility from Mongoose and 26 Agi down a ways.

Enough to make Blade Ward worth it? That, I dunno.

I'd say so. I'm a huge fan of it now. The extra damage doesn't hurt either :P

The uptime is much better than it was before, and each proc gives something like 2.5% parry so I highly doubt Mongoose's 1% dodge proc is going to keep up even if it's less prone to being used up. It's also much much more frequent to get multiple stacks of Bladeward now.

I'm waiting for the next 25-man to make a proper verdict, but Blood Draining's better for pseudo-EH and Accuracy's by and large awesome anyway, Blade Ward might actually make it alongside the two now, with a chance of trumping Blood Draining.

Loot follows the Law of Inverse Need - The more you need an item, the less likely it is to drop. The corollary is what you need is guaranteed to drop when you are not in the group.

dodge from agi got nerfed as well.

bladeward isnt an avoidance enchant, its a random luck avoidance/threat enchant, it shouldnt be seen as a specific avoidance enchant or a specific threat enchant.. sometimes it does 0.6% of my damage on a fight, sometimes ive seen up to 2%, and it definitely procs quite a bit, i think its more decent than people make it out to be, but its definitely not all that hot.

The unfortunate side of it, at least for me, is that it only procs off a Paladin's white damage and Hammer of the Righteous; or at least that's all it used to proc off of.

I haven't seen any math pointing towards it, or any other enchant, since the patch. I'mma stick with my 26 Agi for now :(

as was said with the parry change bladward i guess got a stealth buff. best thing about bladeward imo over moongoose is cost (its cheap) and it can stack its buffs.

That is not what people are talking about when they say that Blade ward got buffed. It got buffed because it now procs more. As someone else mentioned it is not uncommon to get 3 stacks now, and I have even seen 5 stacks from time to time. It's now worth taking, while before people avoided it not because of the parry rating conversion, but because it almost never proced, you mostly would see only 1 stack and very rarely saw 3 stacks.

5 stacks? i thought 3 was the cap

ive seen very frequently double stacks pre-patch however, ive seen 2 triple stacks since the patch and i havent tanked much/paid attention to my debuff much

I've had blade ward since I got my Titanguard, which was just 2 weeks after 3.1 came out, I believe. When I first got it I did some tests using WWS, some nights it proced the damage (so, it proced the buff, and I parried) around 10-15 times per night of raiding (3 hours).

It was sub-par all that time but I didn't really care to change it, and Blood Draining did not interest me at all. Just last Wednesday I was running Heroic Culling (woo free triumph badges..), and the dmg portion of the ability proced over 30 times in that one run.

That's a significant difference, so I can only surmise that it's procing a lot more (cant' really test that without a WWS report, recount doesn't cut it), or the parry rating change has made more of an impact than I thought, but either way, I saw stacks up a lot and they were generally used properly.

Spectemur agendo, at Vae victis.

Yeah, same thing was happening with berserker enchant.

Nice side-effect.
