-Survival can use Arcane Shot, and at some levels and gear levels, it may even be optimal (already) to do so. The game does not solely consist of lvl 80 BiS Ulduar gear.

-Buffing AS base line may change Survival's optimum rotation even at lvl 80 BiS Ulduar gear, if AS was buffed as much as it needs to be for beast mastery to be even

-If AS was changed, it would have to be deep in the BM tree. This is really the main point he was getting at.

-Changing AS isn't the direction they want to go in anyway, making the pet more reliable IS the direction they want to go in.

-Also, BM is the easiest spec in the game to level, if it was also very competitive in Raiding AND PVP, then hunters would never touch any other spec. See also: why frost mages cant do competitive dps in raids, even though it's very possible to tweak numbers that would not buff PVP.

I agree with the OP on this ... how many Survival Hunters will trade the devastating Explosive shot for a "buffed" Arcane shot?

None that are decent! "Yeah I am totally going to waste my Lock and Load procs on Arcane shot cause they buffed it man ..."


Not going to happen. That was the worst Q&A I have read, and when I pulled up the site I was super stoked when I saw Hunter Q&A ... and then totally let down ...

Because obviously before 60, if you do happen to level as surv, you've got the 51-point talent.

They aren't gonna buff a baseline ability to fix one spec.

So how long have you worked for Blizz?

For those of you who didnt get it, he wasnt implying you drop Explosive shot for Arcane Shot. As a survival hunter, you will never make that trade. However, if you are levelling survival and havent yet gotten explosive shot, a buffed arcane shot would be beneficial.

But as GC said, buffing arcane shot isnt where they want to go.

1. It's not a typo. A typo is an intentional misspelling. He specifically says what he means to say.

2. Regardless, while this may be one mistake today,it is far from isolated. It is part of a growing list of mistakes that demonstrate that GC is either ignorant or severly out of touch with even the most basic mechanics of the Hunter Class.

What makes this all the more annoying is that GC has stated that while he is not an expert on each class, he has a lot of knowledgable people at Blizzard who he calls on for info on the particulars. Yet, this further demonstrates that either he never talks to such people or that they don't exist in Blizzard's halls.
