Seems as though 4 new Halloween masks for male and female Goblins and Worgen have been found in the 3.2 files. The Worgen pictured is nothing like what we've seen in game so far...plus theres a female counterpart now.

Definitely worth taking a look at for anyone who is remotely interested in speculation for future content/expansions.

The female Worgen is an especially big deal. If it was just Goblins or just a male Wolf, I wouldn't think it was a big deal. But, the female Worgen looks like nothing else in the game, and there's no real reason to make a female Worgen mask, especially when there aren't any female Worgen currently in game.

Seems more likely that it's just a costume and not necessarily indicative of a new race. I'm willing to bet that goblins will absolutely never be a playable race. In this game every player is allied with a faction. Goblins are the only totally neutral race. It just wouldn't fit for players.

Worgen could be retconned in to fit one side or another, but to do so for goblins would take a major shift in how the race views the world.

Yeah thats what had me really being interested. Plus, the fact that there are only Halloween masks of playable races, really makes it difficult to shoot down the notion that these are indeed the next playable races in the game.

I would love it if Alliance got Worgen. Of course I could see it attracting back a large audience that we were able to get rid of with Blood Elves.

This was something I thought of as well. The only problem I had with trying to justify it, was that if they are new costumes, why would the files be titled "Helm_Mask_Halloween"? Also, like all the other costumes in game, whether it be Halloween costumes or vanity item costumes, there are never any direct female counterparts to all of them. At least I don't believe so.

I agree that Goblins would be strange as a playable race. First, the neutral Goblin cities dominate vanilla content. They are well established as the "official neutral race", they have a clearly defined role in the game, and I don't think there are really that many people who want playable goblins.

Besides, they are basically green Gnomes, in both looks and personality.

On top of that, there are plenty of other "Horde-type" races that would fit better then Goblins, like Ogres, Wolvar, and Drakenoid.

The Worgen though, they make a lot of sense, for reasons that are discussed endlessly on these forums, and the female Worgen mask is just too strange.

If it was just a Halloween gimmick, why change the faces so much? Why create a mask for a female Worgen NPC that doesn't appear in game?

I have got to say this. I was NOT planning on playing the next expansion but if Worgen is a new race I AM SO PLAYING IT! LOL

Everyone who says that Goblins shouldn't be Horde because of their collective neutral status are forgetting that Goblin society itself is very cut-throat when it comes to business. See the conflict between the Venture Co. and the Steamwheedle Cartel.

Who's to say that there wouldn't be some merc company that forms a contract with the Horde and all Goblin players are members of said company.

Look at the Ebon Blade, technically all player-controlled Death Knights are members of the Ebon Blade but they are split by faction as well. Just because SOME Goblins fight with the Horde doesn't mean all of them do.
