So apparently, Flying Mounts are a 1.5 second cast now on the PTR, and Zarhym said to create a new thread on it. So here's the thread.

Zar, is it intended? Will this be going live? :)

Yes, it is intended. We changed our minds and decided to apply the shortened cast time to flying mounts as well for convenience. The latest version of the patch notes (linked below) still say that only ground mounts will have the reduced cast time. This will be updated in the next version of the 3.2.0 PTR notes.

For those that were confused about the Headless Horseman mount functionality and tooltip error on the PTR (it said "instant cast"), the tooltip should now read "1.5 second cast" which applies whether being used in a flight or no-flight zone.

Those who accept will find that acceptance in return

Thank Zarhym. I think it's a good change. The disconnect between the cast times just wouldn't have felt right.

Cool beans, Zar. :D People will probably complain about world pvp dying even more, but meh, let 'em. Personally, as someone with two gathering toons (one of which is a druid, instant cast flight form wins, plus ability to herb in form), the cast time on mounts will be awesome :D

Zarhym, I hope you aren't done checking this thread.

I noticed the change to the flying machine (thanks!) in the patch notes. Do tailors get a similar deal with their carpets? Because no mention of it is made in the notes yet.

The flying carpets aren't as materials intensive in comparison to the choppers. I wouldn't mind a little change to the carpets, but to be honest, I made 10 of those things on my tailor when leveling up. I wouldn't dream of doing such a thing for the helicopter, changed mats or not. :(

edit: sheesh, my internet's been too whacked out tonight, deleted the double post :(

It's not so much the materials as the level requirement and tailoring requirement that concerned me. I'd just like to have my priest's carpet at 60.

Ah, I see what you mean now. Yeah, it'd be a nice change. Even if it's just a "Drab Carpet" - Gray, no gems on the corners, made of Imbued Netherweave.

Great, now world pvp will be even more dead.

Yada yada yada, I hope your 1.5 seconds is convenience is worth all the frustration I will experience when the badz just mount up and fly away.

Remember folks, the War in warcraft only exists inside designated zones and instances. =/

How about letting us all herb without dismounting like Druids can do?

I'm reading that a lot of people find this change cheap in PvP situations.

Nerfs don't ruin the game. Other players do that.

Odd, I ran into a flagged 62 tauren DK attempting to tag all the helboars for the CE quest just last night. I PVP'ed their world, and then they were dead.

Good times.

Perhaps our resident whiners aren't aware of how difficult it is to mount up on a flying mount when they're "In Combat"???

As for myself, I'm looking forward to the changes, and hoping that someday ... *someday* I'll be able to fly over Ironforge and land on the runway.

:)

So why doesn't druid flight form have a 1.5 second casting time?
