so, apparently the Brew of the Month Club achv is required to get the Brewmaster achv which is needed for the What a Long, Strange Trip Its Been achv

does this mean that it will take a year to complete the meta achv's since we didnt have achvs last year for Brewfest?

Brew of the MONTH, not Brew of the YEAR.

No, that one is Brew of the year. Brew of the month grants you the achivement when u buy the membership.

No. They changed it. You just need the membership to get the meta, and there's now a separate achievement for being a member for a full year.

Brew of the Month is a new achievement that is being added and is part of the meta achievement. Brew of the Year is still there but is no longer part of the meta achievement. Brew of the Month can be obtained much much faster than 1 year.

LOL
After all the stern talk of standing by your wishes as Blizzard for the direction of rewards for dedicated players and how players don’t always dictate how the game will change etc etc. I even remember long posts from blues outlining the logic of why it was the way it was and why it would never change. And after all that a minority of players who come to the forums and an even smaller number of forum goers who begged for a change made your mind for you.

Too many people thought it was unfair they were not forewarned of the requirements for the mount but the mount is a reward for doing all the events nearly completely and need not have been seen as a goal you missed out on working towards. Now everyone can cry and get the mount that was supposed to be a special reward for those like myself who were already doing the events.

Add a second club that just sends you empty bottles every week or something -- I'd buy it!

Why is it that this was changed? It's called What a Long, Strange, Trip for a reason I think? Perhaps not.

I remember when on these forums a massive thread filled with QQ and Trolls about this achievement being too long and a big pain for someone to complete having to wait an additional year. Lol.

I'll close out my active participation in this thread by stating this: achievements are optional. They are not mandatory to enjoy the content of the world events. There are relatively few achievements with rewards of some sort; most of them require dedication of one sort or other. Some require skill, some require a bit of luck, and some require time. What a Long, Strange Trip It's Been is not an achievement necessarily meant for casual play considering its many myriad requirements. It requires a bit of luck, a bit of skill, and yes, in some cases, a bit of patience.

There are proto-drakes available through achievements that do not take a year's worth of time. If you do choose to go for the Violet Proto-Drake, however, patience will factor into it to an extent.

I will still be reading as usual, of course.

When you think about this game things that are generally optional do take time. This achievement rewards a protodrake, anyone QQing enough or not should know this, but what about the 100 Achievement mount. The Dragonhawk, if not mistaken isn't even 310%, and takes much more time. They have added more mounts in the game to make it easier but the amount of time required to farm all sorts of different mounts, reputations, and gold takes a good amount of time. Could we maybe shorten that? Or shorten the Loremaster of Kalimdor quest requirement so that it is much easier to obtain.

Achievements where added in this game as a means for players to do things aside of raiding and within raiding, if you are hardcore to obtain cool mounts, for different titles, mounts etc

I just don't see why one achievement should be changed while others require an immense amount of time to complete yet they are not taken into consideration.

Neither did blizzard. They saw no reason to change this as the reward is sto great as the effort should be; then the tears filled up and the minority had to be appeased.

Dont you think the kids with the Jenkins title complain about how hard the Loremaster title is? One day the complaints will be so tearful and so plentiful that it too will be nerfed.... not to the ground, but to the exact specifications of those making the demands.

I'll preface this by saying that I am biased since I'm on track to get my protodrake. Just need to do a few things in Brewfest and I'm done.

However, I agree with Hopebringer. It is a little annoying to see post after post explaining the rationale about why Blizzard will not do this (rationale that makes total sense) but in the end, to ultimately cave to people complaining.

I'm not at all saying that Blizz should never change their opinions or policies. Not doing that would be stupid and a terrible way to run a game that depends on its players.

But in this situation, the issue brought up by players was nothing more than complaints about wanting a completely optional vanity mount. There is -NO- valid reason you need this mount. It won't prevent you from joining raids, it won't impact your DPS, HPS, arena-rating, etc.

It was purely a reward for players who showed the dedication to work an entire year at getting something.

Now I can't wait for the players who will complain that they stopped trying because they weren't going to be able to get the BotY achievement and want all the other meta achievements nerfed.

/sigh

Blizz, please stick to your policies when they make sense!

To be fair, before they changed this it would take a dedicated year of work and another year of twiddling your thumbs. I've got the Brew of the Year since I read the details about the upcoming achievement meta-rewards so I made sure to get that one -- but many didn't. I have a number of guildies who've diligently done the work all year to get this drake and were (unhappily) resigned to the fact that they'd have to wait another year after to get it -- when this change was announced they were quite perked up.

So while I get that its not 'required' in any sense of the word, I can see the point of those who complained that it basically boiled down to two sets of people doing the work, but only one getting the reward immediately. For the other group, it was like they mailed their drake by super-economy class mail, taking a year to arrive :) I'm all for making people hustle to get achievements finished, but this always just felt petty to me.

My thoughts exactly. The only people who are mostly likely crying about the length of the achievement weren't really into the idea of it. When I heard about the achievement system I did simple research, go to mmo -> look at the achievements -> look at the event I am in now and see what I should get and what I could prepare for, and so here I am with all the meta's and my brew of the year stuff.

I just don't understand why something that is optional, doesn't improve your performance in PvP, PvE, BGS, well anything in this game really should be changed.

I'd like for someone to calculate the amount of time it would take to get WSG/AV/AB to exalted and to obtain the 100 wins in each BG etc and see how long it would be for people to QQ. They won't.. why? Because it isn't a shiny mount that most of the time people won't even see.

I was under the assumption that achievements where going to be left as is unless there are circumstances where a vast majority would get unlucky with RNG and not complete a meta. That would suck and IS unfair but we aren't exactly talking about Brew of the Month Club being something that requires effort. You continue playing your game and every first of a month you get beer samples in the mail, drink one, and you are done for that part of the 12 month period.

This isn't even a matter of it being difficult for casuals either.

You're acting as if all you have to do is go buy that brew membership and BAM, drake.

Pretty sure you still have to, I dunno, engage in at least a few holiday events to get the damn thing.

I was about to point this out too. Anyway, this achievement went live with 3.1. All my characters that joined last year got it when I logged on them.
