The problem is that the further you move into the cloned armor territory, the less interested players tend to get because they have less options to make their character feel like their own rather than a clone of everyone else.

No offense Zaryhm, but this does look VERY lazy by your(meaning blizzard) part.

Season 7 is a reskinned S6 which was a reskinned S5.

Tier 9 just shows how lazy you guys have gotten

I like the other way better, and I think 95% of the people that have the opportunity to get the tier pieces do as well.

I like this concept design, it makes sense. The heroes of the Horde and Alliance are going through this whole Argent Tournament thing to prepare themselves for Icecrown. They get these suits of armor/robes/outfits to wear as specialized gear. Argent Crusade makes this gear, so what they do is mass produce it to have it all ready as soon as possible. Blame the Argent Crusade for being uncreative, not Blizz's artists.

If you want to destroy yourself go ahead, but stop recruiting.

Q u o t e:
We do not have plans to change the models in the manner you're suggesting before 3.2 is released. Developing item artwork takes a great deal of time. We informed players a little while ago that we will be doing tier-9 sets a little bit different this time around, where Horde and Alliance set pieces will be completely unique. We never stated that we would develop 20 completely different sets of gear for one raid tier.

So, rather than have one set per class (the same for the Horde and the Alliance), there will be one set per gear type (cloth, leather, etc.) with different color distinctions for each class that will be completely unique between the Horde and the Alliance.

No offense, sir... but this is a ridiculously stupid idea. It's a cop out... it's lazy on the part of the game designers. Nobody wants this.

I play a Druid, Rogue, Warlock. I do NOT want my RESTO druid to look like a slightly different colored COMBAT ROGUE. And I certainly don't want my Affliction Lock, to look like a Holy priest with green fire instead of blueish white fire.

I'm so... irritated that I can't even put my thoughts into words. This is utterly rediculous... whomever thought this would be a good idea was quite wrong.

If the costume designers or whatever their job titles are wanted to be lazy, why not revamp Tier 1/2/3 sets and make em graphically more appealing. That's just as lazy and yet 1000times better than what they're doing right now.

Again this is utterly rediculous and I consider this to be a major let-down and cop-out by your designers. I'll come back when i've had more time to put my outrage into words... as it is right now i'm just rambling.

seems to me you guys have just been getting lazy. all you did was make one set and change the colors.
what makes me laugh is why is PvE gear is different for horde/allaince that seems to go better with pvp gear.

It makes no sense how the same gear would look different on horde/alliance, bosses just decide
to change color of there gear for horde/alliance.

this would go better for pvp because it would make more sense for the alliance/horde to represent their faction with unique looking horde/allaince gear.

I also think part of the problem is moreso that while both sides may be "unique" in what the cloth (A) vs cloth (H) looks like, they still look crappy as hell. I think people wouldn't mind the recolouring as much if at least the basic model looked better than Season 5 blue pvp gear.

The colours are pretty terrible, and the models themselves are incredibly basic. There just doesn't seem to be any thought put in at all it feels like. Too rushed. Where are the epic models even recoloured for the same armor class type?

While I miss my T6 gear desperately, and was hoping for a resurgance of creativity for T9, this is just way more than disappointing.

Q u o t e:

20 not 10, they are doing different sets for each side.

But 8 sets total. cloth, leather, mail, plate for alliance and horde.

That means Blizzard cut down on the number of item sets they needed to produce by 2.

They're just trying to cut corners and hope the player base won't notice.

Zarhym, correct me if I'm wrong, but this doesn't seem like much.

4 armor types + 2 factions = 8 sets

10 classes = 10 sets.

So all this is doing is cutting off 2 sets, around how much man hours does it take to make one armor set? I personally have no issue with the armor the way it will be in crusader's coliseum, but I would just like to know.

Q u o t e:

I actually predicted this a couple of minutes ago in another thread, you didn't actually mean "Unique" sets for horde and alliance,
That's because he never said that.

Reading Comprehension 101: "We informed players a little while ago that we will be doing tier-9 sets a little bit different this time around, where Horde and Alliance set pieces will be completely unique."

In laymans terms: We told players a little while ago that tier 9 sets will be a little different this time. Horde and Alliance (Note: He didn't say "Alliance plate wearers" or "Horde cloth wearers". Alliance and Horde) set pieces will be different.

The Arena sets aren't simply re-skinned. We explained from the very beginning that the concept behind Arena gear in Wrath of the Lich King would be to start off with very simple designs and slowly add more detail to the sets over time to show who the more seasoned players are.

Designing separate sets for each faction and then recoloring each gear type for X number of classes took more development time than the standard 10-set tier cycle we've been doing. To call it lazy is simply to state your disagreement with the direction we've taken for tier-9 in a... well, lazy way.

Q u o t e:
I actually predicted this a couple of minutes ago in another thread, you didn't actually mean "Unique" sets for horde and alliance you mean,

"well we could not be bothered to make a unique cool looking set for each class so instead we are making 3 different sets with almost indistinguishable variations and a bad color scheme for each class, we are gonna say Horde and Alliance will have unique sets as a cover for our blatant lazyness".

It's cool that you predicted something incorrect and then, after reading my responses in this thread, incorrectly congratulated yourself for a false prediction.

I know this might be a lot to ask the people that read these forums...But did you try to look at it from a somewhat realistic point of view?

The armor is from the Coliseum, etc. meaning the Argent Crusade is the group that's putting these sets together. They probably have a group that's worked on the Alliance sets and a group that worked on the Horde sets.

Do you think that they would break their backs to make super awesome glowing armor in the middle of a war with the Lich King? It seems more realistic that the design process went something like this:

"Okay team, here's the design for the plate set. Let's just make it the same for everyone and use different dyes and patches to differentiate for the wearer's role."

Honestly, I don't mind the look of the armor. It's better looking than the early PvP gear and a lot better than some of the stuff that came out of AQ.

If it helps..Think of tier 9 as a mix between tier gear and the next generation of faction specific pvp gear when it comes to looks.
