Good lord. Buffs to fun items rather than nerfs?! More functionality items?! An enchant that is apparently visible on your head?! This rocks!

If this is the new direction engineering is taking then I'm happy I kept the profession though the "dark ages".

Q u o t e:
I'm wondering... why are you guys avoiding talking about anything to do with goggles?

In all honesty, we do not have any new information to provide about goggles and 3.2. I will say that we have been tracking the feedback players have been providing for some time now about engineering goggles in Wrath of the Lich King and have a few ideas in mind, but nothing we can safely share with the community at the moment.

I'll let you in on a small secret -- if it wasn't already obvious from a post I made earlier in this thread -- my main character is an engineer and has been since he was first created over four years ago. From the moment I learned about Shadow Goggles I was sold on this profession. After gathering up my Naxxramas gear I stuck with the epic goggles over the tier-7 head piece just because I wanted to keep my look, regardless of any possible sacrifice to my stats.

Don't get me wrong, my personal interest in engineering isn't the reason I've become the mouthpiece through which we've been presenting everyone with information about 3.2 engineering changes; that's just happenstance pertaining to my role on the community team. I'm just saying that the fundamental reasons many people love engineering as a profession are shared by me. :)

Q u o t e:

We increased the critical strike rating in place of the hit rating. We share the opinion that many have expressed that having the hit rating on the boots is going to be undesirable to a portion of players, so we removed it and buffed the crit rating.

Some players have asked that we allow the Nitro Boosts to come with a minor run speed increase since that enchant cannot be placed on boots with Nitro Boosts. We feel that adding a passive speed increase on top of the current functionality is a little too good, and want players to make a choice there between the enchant or the tinker, and whether or not to get the passive speed increase through the meta gem.

I want to know what sample size you take your feedback from. Becuase the 12/12 combo was absolutely perfect. You'd have to have SERIOUS mental issues to not be able to easily itemize around the 12/12 setup.

This change makes absolutely no sense and no engineer with competant mind will take this over Tuskarr's or Icewalker.

Zarhym,

I'm really glad that you've been here offering as much input and information as you have, but I have one simple question:

Which ones will be useable in arenas? I'm assuming it'll probably just be the gloves. Which is more than slightly disappointing.

I'm really hoping that with the good news you've conveyed so far, I might be able to have a "once in every 3 minute" mobility in arenas. =/

When it came to goggles, I always kinda hoped that they'd just throw a Vendor in Dalaran that sells Goggles with T7/8/9 stats (to the point where it would count as a set piece). That way, they can shy away from the "no profession should be able to make a best-in-slot item usable only to them" paradigm, while still allowing engineers to look like engineers.

Could the drop-rate on some of the old world schematics be looked at?

I'm close to having 100% of schematics ingame, and not having stuff like the Flash Bombs schematic from Gnomeregan is driving me crazy. I can go on a retro-run with some of our guys through Karazhan as they're levelling enchanting and they get every single enchant in one run!

Sunwell schematics make me weep.. I've luckily got 1 of the 2, but.. yeah.. Sunwell makes me weep.

Made a suggestion for an upgrade to jeeves as well as a boost in engineering income, but i will just link it since it is a fairly large post and this would concern jeeves in the 3.2 patch possibly.

Q u o t e:

I'm happy to say this is being fixed in 3.2. Using bombs should no longer cause a druid in form to be removed from that form.

Also, in 3.2 engineers will be able to switch between goblin and gnomish engineering for a fee.

How come you have yet to introduce anything for engineers to use to make profits? Currently everything we can make is obsolete or requires engineering to use it. Give us something that we can craft and sell thats not pre-naxx quality gear.

Give us new non-combat pets to sell, give us upgrades to the Epic Flyer - 2 seater? I mean you gave us a land mount that takes a year to save up for if you are a raider and farm dailies for repair bills and mats etc.

Someone want to explain healing to the hunter? Here is a little hint: heals CAN crit; heals CANNOT miss. if you can't find a way to itemize 12 extra hit somewhere else, you definitly (though not surprisingly) have mental issues beyond forgetting that not every class is DPS.

Except the "lil" part...

Actually can you make it a giant steam driven mule?

I was so excited by these new changes that I went and ground from 0 to 445 today, only to run into a teensy roadblock regarding picking a specialty. Lets say (hypothetically) my head is wanted on a stick in all four goblin towns. Is there any new way in 3.2 for picking goblin/gnomish initially, or will I have to face up to my crimes.

First thing first... THANK YOU. Been a darn long time coming to hear so many nifty changes with Engineering.

Couple questions for ya mon. If ya don't mind answerin' dat is.

Are there any compelling reasons to swap specializations for Engineering? Last I checked... there were two-three items in TBC level ranges... and only ONE item in WoLK ranges that differentiate Gnomish from Goblin.

(And really, this is just a general question for any specialization nowadays too... except Tailors and Alchemist with cooldown procs.)

I see the Welding Beam now helps heal Vehicles... which is nice. Curious though, do you expect engineers to ever use it on their severely underpowered/outdated pets? Might we get TBC and WoLK quality pets that won't be one-shottable at 80? (A suggestion I made in TBC http://www.wowitemcreator.com/view/8318/Fel_Beast_Summoning_Device.html >_> )

I prefer to call what others know as "skinning" or "salvaging" as "deconstructing". Seems more... Destructive. And that's what we Engineers are, right? Yeah sure, we like making goggles and bullets and bombs. But not as much as we like using them!

Note: The duration of the parachute cloak tinker has been increased significantly, now lasting for a full 30 seconds of parachuting goodness, still with the 1 minute cool down :D

This wasn't brought up anywhere so figured I give the heads up
