Hey all you noobs who think gear score is everything should actually try doing heroic with someone in quest blues lvl 200-187 and greens who 1) knows how to spec and 2) knows what the rotation is. I'll gaurentee that person will out dps some of your "raiders" who are too noob to spec and have no idea what a rotation looks like let alone cant seem to read and understand their spells.

But that's ok the noobs who look at nothing but gear score are the noobs who invite Hunters wearing lvl 219 CLOTH to their guilds and wonder why that person is a douche and needs on everything. It's because their both too noob to be raiding. Oh the other thing I saw about two weeks ago was a lvl 80 rogue needing on leather sp greens because they were better than what he had.

On the subject why don't you try being honest with yourself and if you do decide to go looking up people's toons, you should have rolled one yourself already to know what a good spec looks like and how to gear that toon. But that's ok WoW-Heroes makes it easy for any idiot to read a gear score....... IDIOTS!

Don't bother responding to this if you're a gear score moron, gear score over actual stats on gear is only a competitive thing. If you choose to fully 213 a toon you arent wearing the best in slot items in any class, and the same goes for wearing all Valorous or Heroes gear. Its only for looks. You look good while you'r at the bottom of the dps meter though.

It's a sad day when a tank in blues nearly doubles the DPS of someone in purples.

Well I think it was understandable if the tank was a dk, at least a while back

Resto druid with BC gems and green mp5 gems complaining about gear score and talking about knowing classes.

I agree, gearscores are really dumb, they are okay as a guidline I guees but If I put on some of my 226 dps gear onto my tank set then guees what? I have a better gear score..but im geared like a tard..it funny there is some people that dont understand this and also some people who think that just cause something is a higher ilevel its automatically better regardless of anything else.

I think I have roughly 2k score on WoWHeroes. it wasn't enough to get into an Ulduar 10 guild. :(

Scores like those on Wow heroes can be useful for a quick look but you are right that they dont really mean much.
I saw a 25 man last night where a player with bit over 1800 wow heroes score out damaged half the dps, sometimes well over half of them.

Skill and knowing your class IS much more important, but it is hard to see that in a flash.

My main toon has 2 pcs of gear in the bank with higher ilevels than some of what I am wearing, but they are not better in combination with my other pcs so they sit in the bank.

Lol, I was like that(I level>all) for awhile, then I got rawr and had my eyes opened. Not that I agree with rawr all the time.

I can think of one boss where you want you highest item level gear, whatever it is. Flame Leviathan.

I might care about gearscores more if they were ever accurate. For example, warcrafter does not pick up my weapon for some reason. It's from hard mode yogg-saron 10, but apparently it's not in their database. Wowheroes has it in their database, but it's not the correct item level.

Also, darkmoon card:greatness is best in slot but item level 200, so it lowers people's gearscore on all of these websites.

The originator of this post is pretty upset about using gear score and/or wow-heroes for judging someone's capability. Gear score and the overall use of w-h.com can be a very useful tool when deciding whether to invite someone to join a group.

If your score is low...and you only have 3 emblems of Heroism (which is another tool for judging someone's experience)..then you're probably not going to get an invitation to the tougher raids. Without any other concrete information what do you expect people to do, hope that you know how to play your quest blues and greens to the max? As for max DPS...I've seen plenty of people focus only on dropping big dps numbers while wiping a group because they never let a tank get aggro, or they pull multiple mobs in their zeal to hit everything in sight and top a dps chart. High DPS isn't everything if you can't play well.

It's not all about you...it's about the group, and if you want an invitation.....1) play your character well ...and 2) get your score up....

If you DID play well, regardless of your garbage gear, ...there'd be no shortage of group invitations and you wouldn't be so upset.......

Thanks Faizaniel, this is exacly what GearScore was intended for (My mod anyways). Its also a great tool to help raiding guild distribute gear to their player's.

I actually made the post after getting 80 on my dk and being told i needed 2k gs to get into naxx.... 10 man.... on Agrammar.... in Jun 09... like more than a minute after Ulduar had come out... This DUDE also said that would mean i had all 200 item levels which idk is even correct and don't care.

Obviously not a raid i wanted to be in anyway.

All gear n No Skill = Johnny doesn't live long in raids do he?

Reality check: Fresh 80, dk, on thorium bro hood; tanked 10 man naxx with some 187 (no enchants except armsman and def boosts all gems with rare) items thru military and then dps'd some of construct, saph, then saved the day tanking both adds and kt to the kill 1'st shot. Gotta love healers.

How did we raid when naxx had first come out? Gee, not many of us were doing it were we?

Instead of typing on the forum go back to your toon and learn your specs, rotations, then go pvp every day all day for a month and try raiding again. If you die often, there's always google, rp'ing, and goldfarming.
For you more dense readers... Google would be to look up ways to improve.
