0. Upcoming Emblem System Changes 06/18/2009 11:59:05 PM PDT
In the next major content patch we will be making changes to the current emblem currency system to give players more reason to run the content we have released already in Wrath of the Lich King and provide a smoother experience for players looking to reach the higher tier content. While these are still subject to change we wanted to provide information on the direction the emblem currency system is headed.
Each of the 10 and 25 player instances of the Crusaders’ Coliseum will drop a new Emblem of Triumph.
Any dungeons that drop Emblems of Heroism or Valor, such as Naxxramas or Heroic Halls of Stone, will now drop Emblems of Conquest instead. Emblems of Conquest can still be converted to Valor or Heroism in case you want those items instead.
The heroic dungeon daily quest will now reward two Emblems of Triumph and the normal daily dungeon quest will reward one Emblem of Triumph.
The existing achievements to collect 1, 25, 50, etc. Emblems of Heroism, Valor, and Conquest will be converted to feats of strength since Heroism and Valor will no longer be available when the patch launches.
A new achievement will be added to collect badges in general. If you had 20 Heroism, 10 Valor and 35 Conquest, you would get credit for the “50 badge” achievement as your total will be 65 badges.
To further encourage players to participate in more 5 player dungeons, the Coliseum’s 5 player instance will drop Champion’s Seals. In addition, the drakes used in The Oculus for the majority of this dungeon will now scale with a character’s gear like the vehicles in Ulduar.
The end goal of all these changes is help minimize the growing gear gap that is causing a lot of frustration for players trying to experience the latest content as well as encourage players to continue running the dungeons that were previously released.

Instead of just handing over the Ulduar level gear, why not make people work a bit for it? I'm not saying keep it how it is, but why not just go one step up rather than all the way? Make anything that drops heroism badges now drop valor, anything that drops valor now drops conquest and anything that currently drops conquest drops the new ones along with the new zone. That wouldn't make it too bad for new comers.
Yall have(had) a really good tiered badge system that worked, I just dont see why you feel the need to change it when its working...

This is really exciting news. Thanks! I always thought the whole "gear reset" thing should happen slightly more often than only with the release of new expansions. On the other hand, it's nice that the newest badges are highly rate-limited unless you're actually doing the coliseum. You've struck a nice balance between "farm Kara constantly for BoJ" and "I just got to 80, but to go do the things my guild or friends are doing, I have to try to find a bunch of people willing to do all this old stuff."

So hope this does not go live, heroics giving same emblems as Heroic Ulduar?????? no thanks, I want to actually earn my gear, not farm nauseatingly easy and repetitive heroics.

Growing gap? Frustration??
Sorry, but i thought that Naxxramas and all other T7 instances dropped some epics that filled the gap between hitting level 80 and entering Ulduar.
And this frustration can only be the result of trying to run Ulduar in greens just after hitting level 80!
