While I can understand--since you've already said it--that you don't want to give anyone "promises" to cling to ala the previews from the last major patch (aka Mage Fire PvP working, cookies and candies that never got handed out, etc.)

Isn't that what people really want to see out of these Q&As? Dare I say, what they expect to see from a Questions and Answers list?

I'm afraid that the two so far are vague and frustrating. They're skirting some of the issues at best, and avoiding them by restating the question as an answer at worst.

I won't say I drew nothing from it. Many of the questions were spot on! We just didn't get any real answers to many questions. But at least we know you've heard the questions.

If you can't say the answer to a question because you're not sure it will ever be acted upon--and don't want to make "promises", please remember a more valid answer is: We know the issue exits and acknowledge it. And we're working on something to improve it.

At the current rate, I'm afraid every Q&A will be responded to with nothing but groans and disappointment.

Good luck gentlemen.

Think of it this way. Blizzard employees have TRAINED themselves not to say too much. They feel after being hated' on and disrespected for "failing to deliver to the masses" over several years, it's better to blow gas in your direction that give something concrete that may not make it into the game.

That said, the only thing I found disappointing is they acknowledge the healthstone manastone cooldown thing, and forgot to say something about it in their answer.

I know and agree completely. The bottom line is that if they do, they can't win.

the goal of the q+a shouldn't have been to go through the list people made for the 10 easiest questions. It should have been to go through the list and find the important ones.

There's no way in hell the thread was 50+ pages long and the best questions were in that response. They were awful and the fact that they even answered a tunic vs. robe thread just shows it.

Now I didn't read the mage question thread, but if these were really the most pressing issues then I don't know what to say. But for some reason I doubt it.

I think Mages are so displeased by the Q&A because Blizzard feels Mages are in a good place.

Obviously the class has 0 issues whatsoever because they addressed 0 real issues.

I didn't say that, but note the tone and phrasing they used. They clearly imply (and on one point outright say) that they are mostly happy with Mages where they are right now.

Mages had more posts in their Q&A than Warlocks for the entire duration that the thread was up. You can call us the whiney class or whatever other generalizing bull you want--but I'm so sick of this nonsensical crap about us being "okay."

Thats like a firefighter saying why bother putting out this fire the people all the people in it are already dead.

Just cause some people might not like you for doing your job doesn't mean you should half @$$ it.

A more powerful spell is already active.

Well, I'm sad for blizzard right now.

All I am saying is mages have obviously been stereotyped and even blizzard is following this line of thinking that this class is fine. I am not saying or advocating that my issues are more important than others. I'm just so sick of taking the backseat to everyone else. I'm not interested in another 3.1. They don't need to head bang on all our issues but you would think we would at least see progress here.

Alas, this Q&A demonstrated a fundamental lack of understanding of what the deal really is with our major issues. Ghostcrawler can come in here and try to justify everything and say "claiming we don't understand is ridiculous!1!!!1"

I am a fanboy basically for this game. You have no idea. But you can not make statements like these, that either completely contradict or completely miss what the real issue was in the first place.

I dont mean to be glib, but if the devs think your class is ok, perhaps you have your expectations too high?

I mean, every player wants thier class to do the most damage, or most healing, or have the most utillity, or the best survivability, regardless if it is truely balenced or not. Never does anyone ask if the things which hold a class back are just "oversights and mistakes" or if they are 100% intentional. I dont know about anyone else, but the overal vibe I got from the mage Q+A was "mages are pretty much exactly where we want them to be, STFU". Thats admittedly pretty discouraging, but again, how many players ask themselves if they are simply expecting far more then "thier station in life"

Not everyone can be #1; Someones got to be on the bottom. Just be thankful if it isnt you.

Last i checked mages ARE at the bottom of PVP and Pures DPS in Uludar.

Honestly, Q&A was complete trash to me. Not a SINGLE question was answered directly...everything down to wearing robes was vage.

Q: Mages have problems with mana. Any plans to fix this?
A: We balance mana-using dps assuming they won't run oom.

...

I hope rogue Q and A is better than this. Now I can give up on my mage completelly.

I apologize for my poor english.

We have one viable pve spec. And that viable spec still has to work with an inefficient aoe, ridiculous rng, and a badly designed raid utility mechanic.

Every other class in the game (except maybe hunters, who are not exclusion to similar needs) has at least two. Most hybrids have THREE specs that function well in PvE.

And yet, they don't even acknowledge the fundamental problems behind arcane. For frost they dawdle around the same fluff with icelance and have nothing concrete to give us.

Oh, and by the way blizzard, FFB is not a playstyle. The rotation is exactly the same as Fire, do not call it another playstyle. It is not another playstyle. It is fire with frost talents.

I wont argue that point, Im just trying to suggest that maybe that is by design, rather then by mistake.

Mages are designed to perform poorly at PvP and PvE? Cool.
