I always felt that once you hit endgame, your character looks more and more similar to those of the same class and spec as you. Tabards and helm/cloak on/off are among the only ways to distinguish 1 character of similar high level gear from another.

I think when glyphs were first being talked about, the devs mentioned that some glyphs were meant simply for aesthetics. There are some that exist, like a Polymorph glyph that turns them into a different animal. I was expecting something like a glow effect on your characters hands, a halo for a priest, or something along those lines.

I'm just wondering if the devs plan on implementing some new gear slots or charcater effects to set one character apart from others. The Druid form changes are such an example. I do not have a Druid myself, but regardless I think that was an excellent move for greater character aesthetic diversity.

What ideas do you guys have? What would you like to see?

Yeah! This is the kind of stuff I'm talking about. Like a section for character aesthetic glyphs. If someone wants green or pink fireballs, then doggone it they should have it!

Think people would think it would be cool to if they could change their pets a bit, like a broken leash or battlescars, dressing up their succy, stuff like that.

While we don't have any plans to implement any changes to the character aesthetics at the current time, we are always thinking of ways to make the game feel more unique and personalized for the player. It may come to pass that someday we will expand personalization through some means. Unfortunately, that time is not now and may not be for some time.

You have some interesting suggestions though; we'll make certain to pass those along to the development staff.

I don't think this will see the light of day.

Either..
A: Too expensive, we don't want to give precious dollars.
B: Too much time to do it. We don't have any time while we work hard on our content updates.
C: "It'll be using a player's valuable glyph slots, and we're not cool with it."

Past tendencies taken into consideration of course.

I think an overhaul of all the character models would be better than glyph tweaks.

More options for facial features/hair/body type.

This would work for me too, but it would probably take more effort on Blizz's end

Thanks for the reply. ^^

I understand it's not high on your priority list, but other players that I have talked to and I felt that things like that would be cool and help bring out a little more individuality to the player. Again, thanks for keeping this in mind.

How about allowing us to take the stats from an item and placing them on a different item - purely for the appearance?

They could even add a whole new vendor for this service (like they did with the barber shop).

For example, I love the eyepatch but the stats aren't useful to me. It would be great if I could take the stats of my helm and slap them on the patch.

Seems to me that there are tons of models that aren't used because their stats aren't good enough. If we could pick the models we like, and put the stats we want on them, there would be a ton of variety in appearance.

Appearance Tab has been mentioned before, but I don't think I've seen a blue post on it. Care to elaborate on if it will ever see the light of day? This would fix WoW's biggest flaw in my eyes.

I'd guess one or more of the Dev's is a Michael Jackson fan.

But yesh, human male character models have always been fail.

How about taking a page from a few other mmorpgs and adding an "Appearance Tab," a complete set of gear, laid out how the current character sheet is (it's own slots) and let characters display purely aesthetic pieces over their current gear?

Wouldn't it be awesome to see a paladin in Judgement gear actually doing something other than looking cool?

Like looking cool AND kicking butt?

CRYGIL ADD RACE CHANGES NOW

Why no race changes? It seems like a reasonable question. I mean, we allow character re-customization where you can change your sex, right? We sure do, but we have good reasons for not supporting race changes, at this point in time.

Here are just a few of the reasons:

1) Critical Mass: People may decided that any given class/race combo is superior to other combination of that same class. Or people may decide that any given race is no longer worth sticking with due to some change we make to some racial abilities. This naturally leads to flavor of the month races. This is something we want to avoid.

2) Race Restrictions: All races are given a certain set of restrictions for both lore and balance purposes. There would be some serious investment involved in making certain that this system didn't allow any exploitation of that system.

3) Future Content: Things change, some would say the only thing that stays the same is change and that is certainly true for World of Warcraft. If we allowed race changes it could negatively/adversely impact things we haven't even thought of yet.

That said, it's not in the cards right now. Maybe someday we'll reverse our opinion on this, but it's likely to be a while.
