I'm really happy for the Tauren players. I think your forms and their color schemes rock!

Bold emphasis is mine. Does this mean that you have to command the character to 'sit' in order for it to shut its mouth, or will it idly close it? Screenshot of bear closing his mouth while standing, or it isn't fixed.

More on-topic, why didn't they just implement a second barbershop window for forms? The current implementation is lazy and hamfisted.

Well, I was hoping for the Grey Bear and White Cat but, I got Grey Bear and Black Cat.

I can change my fur color from Dark Grey to the Steel Grey if I really want to but, you know... I think I'm actually cool with the Grey Bear and Black Cat. Looks sweet!

Can't wait!

Nethaera addressed this later on in the thread from which you grabbed that quote:

No one has said anything about it only closing while sitting. :) I think there have been some incorrect inferences.

Just to clarify, when I said, "sitting around" that was in reference to idling, hanging out and being bearlike.

The open mouth is just the "roar" animation. They won't have their mouths open all the time, and Nethaera explained in a later post that by "sitting" they meant "hanging out" or "idling" or what have you.

/agree
Not about "lazy", but forcing us to accept whatever form colors they arbitrarily assigned to our hair colors does indeed feel "hamfisted".
I say "arbitrarily" because, especially with the Cat colors, they don't necessarily bear any resemblence to our hair colors. Adding PINK fur, for example. There is no pink hair color; why make pink cats? And hello, do you really think you can ignore the fact that pink and mauve, in Western culture, are seen as feminine colors? Why introduce such a color when you know it will be unacceptable to many male players?

edit: Zarhym beat me to it. Also to say, there's nothing wrong with having pink as an OPTION. But when it's forced on all players with white hair, I feel my objections are valid.

Argh, Z, why couldn't you have addressed the second on topic portion of that post as well :( We're dying out here... is any consideration being made to re-evaluate how you're doling out the forms?

Allowing additional UI features in the barber shop so druids can preview forms is a great idea. It has been brought up, but that doesn't mean it's something that's going to happen in the next patch.

The current implementation is made as such that it can be expanded upon in the future. As of right now, it's the most streamlined and sensible way of allowing druids a chance to strut their new styles as soon as possible. :)

Does that mean there's any chance they're considering whether to allow us to pick our bear and cat form independently, in the future? I'm trying to read between the lines, but I don't know if I'm getting it right. I'd imagine we all understand that this is the way it's going to be implemented initially, but I would be a lot happier if I thought they were considering changing it in the future.

/sigh I realize you probably can't answer that...

Well thank you for going back and having a look =D

Still, not to bother you again, but... the suggestion was not to preview the forms, but to be able to select them independently of hair and fur colors. Does this first step mean that we should reasonably expect to see something like this in the future (no guarantees, but a good chance) or that its something that you would theoretically like to see done in the future(maybe, but probably not)? Or never at all?

I do love the new forms, like many, but.. they would be so much better if we could choose which we get. I don't want to be a pink bear, nor do I want to dye my glorious emerald locks D:

I appreciate the response, Z. I didn't mean to come across as a jerk, and that info is good to know. Also, I share Tellerias' concerns about whether this will be the ultimate implementation, or if it is actively being considered (within the dev circles) to be simply an early and quick method that will actually/for sure/definitely be built upon and refined later, to the point that we can (hopefully) not just choose colors independent from our humanoid hair color, but also be able to choose colors between both cat and bear forms.

And, ideally, between all forms somewhere down the line.

I really appreciate the update, but I have a logic-based question on color associations:

Why does the green haired Night Elf get the cat with the blue fur, and the dark blue-haired Night Elf get the cat with the green mane?

Shouldn't it be the other way around?

Not that I'm complaining or anything, because frankly, the blue cat looks pretty freaking sweet (but the black cat kinda suits my own personal tastes a bit better, though they're both awesome).

Can I change my skin tone from the barber shop? Or does address only haircut/facial features?

For example I have a black tauren druid and I would like to change to brown because I favor the brownish cat.

So in closing, Is skin color switchable via barber shop?

A man's opinion changed against his will, is of the same opinion still.

By all means, implement these ASAP. But once that is done, please begin working on expanding our choices.

Yes, Tauren will be able to change their skin color in the Barbershop (they will introduce that when they implement the new forms).

You however, my orcish friend, are out of luck ;)

If the main idea is to have a similar hair color with both humanoid form and animal forms, I don't get why a purple haired nelf would turn into a red and blue bear.

Please, atleast tint the blue mane on the bear into a more purplish color.

You'll make this purple haired druid very happy :)

I know it's not just the lighting on this one, because you guys have even said here:

"Purple: Red bear with Blue Mane (top right), Purple Cat (middle)"

No purple mentioned on the bear whatsoever
