Hey, I'm debating whether or not I should save up my points for season 3 or buy a weapon now, does anyone know when season 3 is actually coming out?

i believe it was kalgan who said it would be "at or shortly after patch 2.3"

so, yes, it may not coincide with 2.3, and it is unlikely it will be before 2.3, which, at the current patch rate, means 2008

(FYI OP, the new weapons will take an arena rating in order to obatain. Most likely our ratings will be reset again with the new season. Still... always good to start saving those points!)

Although I understand you dont give an ETA, I beleive it was posted by a blue that season 3 will most probably (not 100%) be released along-side 2.3. Seeing the current delay in the patch, I dont feel as though 2.3 could be out before November. Why? Almost every patch, especially one with new content, has taken at least 3 weeks on the PTR since 1.0. That said, I am assuming the patch isnt even PTR ready just yet, due to people still trying to fix 2.2.

Also, the seasons are released to coincide the progression of a large portion of guilds in raids. For example, season 2 gear was available when a large number of guilds were in SSC -- and the gear was mostly equivalent (except, I know there were a few items PVEers complained about). This would mean that season 3 would be released when a large portion of guilds are progressing through Hyjal & BT.

I dont know if those 2 things are going to happen simultaneously. Are those assumptions true? Can (not will) season 3 be released without grouping it with a major content patch like 2.3? At what level of progression is it considered "ready for season 3?"

Its not that I need exact dates. I just am kindof sick of season 2 -- seeing that I had 5/5 like 1 week into season 2 and want to look forward to some upgrades.

Any word at all on the hunter melee weapon that was to be added? Why couldn't it be added in along with the caster shields?
