I have heard rumors that season 3 gear may be on some kind of limited use system. Like you need to maintain a team at a certain rating or you cant use it.
Is there any truth to this. I have been saving my points for the s3 weapon, but if its going to be restricted I might just buy the season 2 one.

We have stated that there will be a minimum rating required to use the season 3 weapons. The rating required has not been finalized and any additional details will have to wait until we are closer to the start of the new season.
Keep in mind that we do plan to give at least two weeks of advance notice for when season 3 will begin so everybody can be prepared.

1st - hmmm keeping the minimum ranking to use them could be interesting. I'd buy S2 anyway... how much bettter could S3 be and God knows when it will come out

Do you have to just obtain the rating to buy said items or keep the rating to be able to continually use the items?

This is the first blue comment, that I have seen, that stated "there will be" instead of "may be".
Poor decision blizz. Going down the wrong path with this one.

I disagree. People spending their points on gladiator armor will be more useful than running around with green gear and a S3 weapon. This also keeps the arena weapons in the arena.
You're confusing what you want with what the developer's want, think is appropriate, or feasible. Just because you post it doesn't make it a good idea or valid concern.

Didn't we do go through this little exercise during the High Warlord fiasco? Blizzard quickly retreated from the idea that you have to maintain a certain level of activity to keep using honor rewards because it was a really dumb idea.
Why re-invent the square wheel after it didn't work so well last time?

Wait...minimum rating to USE or minimum rating to PURCHASE?
i.e. Team hits 1900, player A buys S3 weapon. Team loses next game to drop below 1900, is player A no longer able to use S3 weapon?

I understand that armor, for many, is a better choice, but it should be up to the player. By doing this, Blizz is giving in to the Elitists of WOW. This is a small, but loud group who feel they deserve something extra (besides additiona arena points) for the domination of digital content.
Having an uber, end game weapon, is a huge draw for many that play this game. It's so much cooler than having a great pair of gloves or shoulder pads. And the arena weapon argument isn't valid. If you want to keep arena weapons out of pve, then keep BS weapons out of the arena.
