Not sure if this belongs in the tech support forum, but move it there if so.

Anyway, this morning my AVG found a Trojan (Genric5.JMY) in the fmod.dll file in my WoW directory. I'm not sure if this is also a false positive, but it hadn't found anything like this in the past so I wasn't sure. Looking for any kind of feedback I can get.

Thanks

Update: A future definition update from AVG will resolve this issue.

------------------------------
fmod.dll is the sound engine that we use for World of Warcraft. What AVG definition are you using? Also, what is your fmod.dll modified date?

I just have the Trial version for now, and it downloaded the update this morning before running. Version appears to be 269.10.4/896.

I didn't see when it was editted before quarantining it, but I keep my WoW directory on an external HD that I keep with me, and AVG said that fmod.dll also was infected.

I also have the problem.

Edit: I can run WoW by turning off the Resident Shield for anyone who really wants to play.

I'm having the same problem. I've tried ignoring the virus warning, healing it, and moving it to the vault. I cannot get the game to start at all. When I tried the repair tool, it stops in the middle and says I don't have permission to write and closes.

This is ridiculous. So many people use this anti-virus software. Blizzard better put a quick fix.

It's a false positive. Calm down.

Click service then "Potentially Unwanted Program Exceptions", then add fmod.dll. So you can keep resident shield on, otherwise, turn it off while playing wow.

i also am having the same problem with AVG (newest version). i've repaired and such and as soon as the file is downloaded a trojan is found and i heal it through AVG and thus i cant play (because that file is missing and is vital for wow to run).

Grarr!

Happened to me to, I tried to heal it. No go.

-_-

Is there a link we could find to redownload that file and overwrite it?

This seems like a false alarm on AVGs part. Not a Hacker thing. But maybe that is because I can't recall actually clicking on any unsafe links or anything.

I just tried using update 269.10.4 (7/11) and my fmod.dll came up clean.

http://free.grisoft.com/doc/24/us/frt/0

I have to use manual updates on the test system so I'm not able to get the latest one available from the automatic update site.

Did you all patch yet? I'm using the one in my current World of Warcraft folder.

I think you forgot about last month or so when a bunch started flagging the Downloaders as trojans :)
