Oh like you could ever see your fruity hair color with something THIS amazing on.

A good tank is normally a over achiever/perfectionist (and excels and tank/dps/heals)
A DPS is usually a slack jaw hippy
And a healer more often then not is insecure and needs to be validated a lot.

Q u o t e:

I was originally concerned about not being able to keep the hair color with the model that I desired, but not being able to choose cat and bear form independently of each other is a much bigger issue to me. Hopefully they decide to implement this differently and keep the SKIN option separate from each other as well as the hair color.

With 5 new skins for each, we'd need 36 hair colors for all combinations to be available, Anyone know how many hair colors there currently are?

Though I could be reading that wrong, and 5 could include the current ones.

5 hair styles for cows 3? colors, and 7-8 hair colors for elves and 7 styles. Hmm not sure how they will work that out! Maybe fruity elves get more skins!

Guess we will find out in a week or so?

I believe its 5 different skins for each form, not 5 in addition to what we have now. We would thus need 25 different hair colors to match each combination of both bear and cat form. I don't really see Blizzard taking this route at all though. I don't see them mixing and matching cat and bear form graphics at all and will likely have 'sets' that correspond to each hair color.

O.o

who could have knows I was choosing to be a Polar Bear all those years ago at character creation :)

possibly a little unfortunate that anyone who wants a particular animal form is going to be tied into having a few select hairstyles, or skin colours... some of us are still attached enough to our caster form selections not to want to randomly change them.

But aside from that, looking damn nice!

angle should honostly mangle you its not called "tickle me attack" ...its not called "happy hugs from a cuddly forest animal"

All I'm saying is...

4.5 years

and the "done right" that they've been talking about for a year ends up being a slightly different polygon with new colors. I'll still be staring at a bear butt when I tank.

I was really hoping for something closer to what hunters ended up picking up: a variety of pelts of varying types of animals. In fact, I was really hoping I could pick something that people wouldn't automatically know EXACTLY what stance I'm in for pvp.

I'm still not going to be changing how I look as I gear up. All of those armor and weapon graphics are at least partially wasted since I'm in a cat or bear form about 80% of my online time.

Don't get me wrong - they're more visually appealing. But it really doesn't meet what I think a lot of us were looking for. But if this is all we should be expecting, I'm pretty disappointed.

They are new models and new textures. You can tell by things like how much less blocky the bear's shoulders and rump are. There are more polys now. The difference in detail is pretty amazing and hard to really appreciate from a simple screenshot. The animations are the same as they've always been.

Honestly with things like this we have to be a little careful. While not many people will champion the fidelity of the old forms (because they look old!) players can get very attached to them. We were concerned that if we changed them too much (remove the horns for example), long-term druids might really feel disenfranchised. The artists did a great job of capturing the feel of the old forms while still updating them.

If you have more hair color choices than pelt colors available on the animal then more than one hair option will map to the same animal.

Having the art itself upgrade as you improve your gear is still something we'd love to do, but is obviously a much bigger undertaking. We'll see.

And wait until you see the new Tauren cat! That was the one most in need of an overhaul, IMO.

Can you give us any information on if a specific bear model will always be accompanied the same cat form? It would be nice if they could be mixed and matched to some extent, so you could have bear form 1 and cat form 5 instead of it always being bear form 1 and cat form 1.

Also, what about some sort of scaling based on level? I don't really think the majority of druids are all that hell bent on getting gear on our forms. We know this is a rather huge under tanking. What most of us REALLY want though is to look different than we did at level 10 or 20. While we can get a hair cut to change which model we use, these models are still available to the lowbie levels. A level 80 druid could still easily be mistakable for a level 10 druid. I think THAT is what most druids are hell bent on getting.

Apparently, according to another blue post, the mouths will only be open during a roar animation. They will be closed otherwise.

GC, I am begging you.. please don't link our hair and fur color to our forms... I don't want to change my character, and I don't want to get stuck with a single set of colors as I have been since launch :(

We've waited so long for this welcomed change, but is tainted by the hair color nonsense hanging over our heads. My druid has looked essentially the same since his birth.. I don't want to change him just to have new skins for my animal forms. It's like saying "mages, you must be bald to use pig instead of sheep for your polymorph" or "If you want a cat for a pet as a hunter, you need to roll a night elf."

Can't you just let us pick which one we want to use with an independent slider on the barber shop...? After all this time, can't we have full access to the new graphics you've finally made for us?

Lawl. I always joked that it was a lion with downs syndrome and its tail cut off with a fake one pinned on. It's also a bit funny how the female tauren druids had the main of a male lion.

You mean that Horde flightpoint wyverns without the wings? Yeah, doubt you'd get any to disagree.

:p

Now all we need in the next expansion for druids to become available to more races, with appropriate forms, and they'd be played more. WTB Troll druids with saber-tiger cat form, pst.

Er...you say that there are new models and then you describe a single new model. So can you clarify: will I be able to choose from multiple new bear models?

Q u o t e:

So will I able able to choose any bear skin/cat skin combination I want? It seems that there aren't nearly enough hair colors for all 25 (or 36) possible combinations.
