Runed Cardinal Ruby? I don't think the info is sitting in the files for no reason.. will be implemented sometimes I'm guessing.

Ah, those epic gems. Those gems are currently not available in the game. When/if the time comes that we feel they should be implemented we will provide further information on it, but currently they have no effect on what is in the game right now.

Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday Zarhym! Happy Birthday to you!

Not going to pull up the exact quote but basically

What epics? I don't know what you're talking about, they aren't in game.

Or is your own database not to be believed?

If you have trouble with any of the above (some browsers), navigate over to http://www.wowarmory.com/ and run a search for a gem prefix such as bold, delicate, purified, glinting, etc. Then click the item tab and note how epic cuts are in Blizzard's database.

While there is a time to buff things, if anytime there was a balance issue and we only buffed things, the numbers would rise at a rapid rate and get out of control. There is a time to buff things, but when we feel one thing is too far ahead, it's time for a nerf, which we know is never popular, but we feel it needs to be done.

That's fine Bornakk, but this change is nerfing Jewelcrafting's utility into the ground, whereas the ground would be the level of all the other professions. Can you give us some unique passive abilities to compensate? Cutting BoE items is not unique, which is why you gave Mixology to Alchemists, because crafting non-BoP potions/elixirs/flasks is not unique.

Q u o t e:
The general idea of the compensation tokens are to buy new Dragon's Eye gems since you may be wanting to move things around with this change.

Thats nice, what about the blue gems I have to use when I go to re-gem my gear because of this change? I still have to pay up there. For what you have decided is a mistake, YOU MADE.

Look you want to change the way it works, whatever I wont complain in that sense, though it does instantly give BSing the single strongest profession bonus.

What I will say is you better cough up more than a few extra Dragon's eyes though, my tank set is very carefully balanced and maintained, losing the 8 defense from my JCing gem in my helm will put me under the Def cap. So then I have to swap that gem with a yellow/green/orange gem to keep my defense, or change gems elsewhere, etc, but I have to get that 8 defense back, and not through Dragon's Eyes if I can avoid it. Which means I have to use up gems that you apparently aren't compensating me for? Come ON. You make the change, YOU pay for my gems, and not JUST the Dragon's Eyes. All the ones I have to change. ALL of them.

Edited for clarification.

Q u o t e:
Nerfs are rarely (if ever) something that returns positive feedback, but we feel this change is necessary to bring this profession more in-line with the bonuses from the other professions. The stat bonuses are meant to stand on their own, not provide extra socket bonuses or ignore meta-gem requirements.

So nobody thought of this back when the idea of prismatic gems was conceived?

if anything, change the value of what the gems offer

ie. instead of +27 *insert stat*, make it +23

Seriously the problem here is that JCs are freaking out casue they don't know how to gem. Based on what people are says its clear that they don't understand the gemming system cause they are JCs and didn't have to learn how to gem correctly. O'NOES

Dude this isn't that hard. You will easily meet your meta and still have the same stat bonus as all the other professions except when you have gear with only like 2 or 3 sockets on it.

What colour will each of the different gems be now? Should make 32 spellpower a blue gem so i can keep my chaotic skyflare diamond without sacrificing large amounts of stats on crappy blue or purple gems.

In the next major content patch we will be removing the prismatic quality of the jewelcrafter-only Dragon’s Eye gems. Like other gems, they will have to match the socket color to receive a socket bonus. When this change occurs, players with qualifying jewelcrafting skill will be provided a yet to be determined amount of Dalaran Jewelecrafter Tokens as compensation.

at least they are providing some sort of compensation to JC'rs... Engies got nothing but stripped naked and tossed out of the arena.

I've been playing my mage since a few months after WoW's release and for the vast majority of that time, I had tailoring as one of my two professions. Over the years I collected a lot of rare patterns, one or two of which I was the only person on the server to have. However, the lack of any tangible performance increasing benefit for tailors (until recently) meant that I felt obligated to drop the profession in order to make sure I could get the most out of my character possible. So with no word from blizzard on their plans for either profession, and with much sadness, I unlearned tailoring and picked up jewelcrafting. Not to be melodramatic (ok, maybe a little) but it felt like part of the identity of my character died that day. In return, I gained a fair amount of spell power on my character, the ability to trivially activate my meta gems, and the ability to at least partially compensate for an overabundance of blue/yellow sockets on my gear. At the time, it may have been worth it. I'm not sure.

What will I have to show for it once these jewelcrafting changes go live?
3000g less
The loss of my favorite profession
The gain of a profession worse for my character than the one I dropped

I like the general philosophy that you guys have here where you're trying to make sure there is parity in the professions so that no one feels like they have to drop a profession for another solely to stay competitive in their venue of choice. I just wish you guys would be better about communicating your intentions with regards to professions earlier and with more detail so situations like this could be avoided.

P.S. In determining the number of Dragon's Eyes you see fit to give us, please take into account that on average we will each need to learn 2-4 new patterns and replace 3-6 dragon's eyes in addition to the 3-6 normal rare gems we will have to put in the locations previously holding dragon's eyes.
This is because:
1) Many people have two specs with differing gem types
2) Almost invariably, the dragon's eyes are in sockets they will no longer activate

The real issue here is that Blizzard doesn't want 98% of the raid community leveling the same profession to maximize dps. This is the same exact thing that happened with Leatherworking Drums all over again.

Blizzard has a serious lack of creative problem solvers so instead of thinking about what they will do they just remove the element from the game completely.

JC makes great money, no one can deny that, but how many of us have blew, spent, re-spent gold to max healing/dps/etc? I hate to break it to you Blizz, but we'll do it again. Every person who is serious about their numbers will run to the next best profession and level it from scratch again.

Yes I am still VERY bitter about the Leatherworking nerf, and I will be very bitter about the JC nerf.

I'm sure these points were made by other people in various forms already, but I want to put my voice out there expressing my disgust at the way that Blizz makes these changes; clearly without any thought about the repercussions.

Agreed or give the boosts that we lose though this and remove the Dragon's eye cuts completely and give us a way to "shatter a dragon's eye boosting your belt's stats with AP", and give similar things for tanking, spell dps, and healing, much like the scribes shoulder enchants. If you were to do that I would be happy, because as far as i know a Belt has no enchant avaliable to it, except maybe leather kits, but other than the leg patches who uses those anymore?

Why can't you just have two seperate types of JC-only gems that share the unique equip total for different goals. Prismatic low-stat gems for easy socket/meta requirements and non-prismatic high-stat gems. I believe this would it would balance it out rather elegantly and allow people to choose to max out stats while ignoring bonuses or go for their easy metagem requirements and socket bonuses.

So instead of a prismatic +27 AGI gem, you could make a Red +27 AGI gem or a prismatic +16 AGI gem. Each would count towards the "Unique Equip (3)" total.

I'm all for game mechanics that force people into tough decisions about their characters. As it is now, it is just a straight nerf.

Why not put these in instead of ruining JC?

New epic gems would close to gap to JC specific gems, while still allowing JC's to have socket bonuses thus making their profession worth something without being too powerful.
