Q u o t e:
I wasn't aware that engineering consisted entirely of one schematic. I was under the misinformed position that it was actually a collection of interesting "gadgets" or explosives.

The gadgets useful in some very diverse ways, but no items that could entirely change the balance of the game.

The bombs useful in pretty much any situation you wished to do additional damage.

Neither the bombs nor the gadgetry were as simple as pure stats. All had some other trick to them which require skill, timing and understanding to use effectively.

Well at least this perspective on a singular nerf rather than taking the whole of the profession and the nerfs it has recieved over the years explains what happened to rocket boots and the current pathetic state of the profession.

If only the perspective seemed to encompass what players have mentioned in thousands of posts now (would have though that 100+ pages on engineering thread would have shown something of that.)

Let me look in my bags and figure out what I use engineering for.

Hmm. Looks like I have pyro rockets, and rocket boots. Oh, and I use the flexweave for PVE so that I don't have to pay for the haste enchant (even though the haste one is better).

So let's check off my list of uses:

Rocket boots - GONE
Hand Mounted Pyro Rockets - Decent, but with a serious stat drawback
Flexweave underlay - Because I'm a cheap bastard and don't want to buy a real enchant. I don't even have the use bound to anything because I'm a druid and I can #!%%ing fly.

This profession is amazing.

Since blizzard only likes constructive discussion from its customers, I'll give it a shot.

I can identify three reasons to level any profession: income (hence the term "profession"), utility, and fun.

Blizzards own employees have taught us that "fun" is completely subjective, and there is no way to discuss it either constructively or equitably, so it should be ignored. Look at recent blue posts regarding grinding for context.

Income is completely and utterly measurable. I know blizzard collects data on everything, and I can only assume that engineering is the least profitable profession.

Utility is a function of measurable inputs to gain a measurable output. Often, players express it with math using WoW theorycrafting. WoW is a game designed around damage and hit points, and engineering has now demonstrably become the profession with the lowest-damaging utility. Engineering happens to be relatively unique because it offers harder-to-measure, non-passive utility in other forms. The majority of end-game content (the content for which we repurchase WoW) is currently unaffected or barely affected by this form of utility. This now includes arena pvp.

Blizzard employees expect players to respond constructively, with respect for their hard work and contributions to the game. World of Warcraft players, the investors who make the game possible, should be able to expect the same from developers. Please be mindful of this before posting.

LOL no it doesn't!

Hard mode, or high arena bracket rating, means you have to do what you can to help your raid/team win. If you have engineering, you aren't doing everything you can to make your character the best they can be. That's not opinion, it's fact.

I wasn't aware you were being paid to talk bull#*@%...oh wait I was. Most of those gadgets you talk about are completely useless, World PvP doesn't exist, winterlag is useless, sure you could maybe use explosives and a few gadgets in some bg's, but you tell me how much of the #!!*en population picked up engineering for explosives and how much went for the nitro boots. and you guys made arena the main event? nerfed from 5 sec to 2 and now made completely useless after nerfing googles stealth too, way to make a profession USELESS. and i do love how you guys removed it from being allowed to use in arena and are saying 'oh well you know we decided it's to imba, please wait 5 more #!!*en months till we think about a way to fix it so it still sucks' instead of being smart, which obviously is to much to ask for, and have been thinking of a way to fix boots this entire time and made a change to them along with the boots nerf.

Is it at all a surprise that the Blizzard poster hasn't posted here again? To think, you were actually stupid enough to argue that any of us would level Engineering's for the "gadgets" or bombs end-game. Yeah, I definitely paid 2000-3000G to be able to port to Gadgetzan. Engineering is the worse production profession for PvE, it's only shining point was PvP and now the only thing still usable are the Pyro Rockets.

TL;DR - We don't give a $@#% about the "gadgets," we want something with some actual endgame VALUE. No, ammo DOES NOT apply.

What did they buff for rogues to cause this mass influx?

They nerfed DKs. That's the biggest buff rogues could have ever received.

This is probably of little consolation, but the ability still works outside of the arena. We also don't intend to leave things as they are, in regard to Nitro Boots. We'll continue to work on a solution, in the hopes of finding one that is equitable to everyone.

Most of our gadgets that require skill, timing and understanding to use effectively have been taken away, neutered or outright banned in arena play sirs and given your blue response, at this point.. i'm more curious about how and where you are getting the information from to base these decisions on because it sure as hell isnt experience.

We made a choice to go engineering and gave up a lot to do so to get those benefits. TFB if others made a different choice and cant live with it.

WOW they work in BGs. ain't that freaking amazing, but since arena is the main thing in WoW, we clearly have to re-enchant our boots with tuskarr's vitality for arena now therefor we can't use nitro boots in bgs can we? ever think of that smart asses? -.-

edit: it's really sad though how you just nerfed it all of a sudden and only NOW are thinking of ways to change it instead of thinking first of ways to change it (Not like you had ALL this time to do it) and making the change along with the boots nerf so it isnt completely useless until you guys find a way to change it 5 monhts from now

Can we get a timeframe PLEASE? Many of us would like to know if we're going to be waiting several months, or if you guys have something we may see sometime soon. ATM, Engineering is just not worthwhile for a serious arena player compared to the stat gain of other professions.

Hey smarty pants, can you tell me why you disabled it then decided to start to brainstorm for a solution instead of brainstorming THAN disabling it and replacing it.

It's of no consolation. You need to read this statement hard and actually process it in your mind. Real hard now.

This is like when they nerfed Muti from 50% to 20% then found out Dirty Deeds was glitched and added a flat 20% on all DMG. -.-'
