How much on average does it take to level up JC?

Sounds like something Blizzard is planning on implementing...

If I had to choose which part of the game would die, Arenas or Engineering, I would choose to kill Arenas. The devs chose engineering, and they are killing it slowly.

I wasn't aware that engineering consisted entirely of one schematic. I was under the misinformed position that it was actually a collection of interesting "gadgets" or explosives.

The gadgets useful in some very diverse ways, but no items that could entirely change the balance of the game.

The bombs useful in pretty much any situation you wished to do additional damage.

Neither the bombs nor the gadgetry were as simple as pure stats. All had some other trick to them which require skill, timing and understanding to use effectively.

Seriously?

Edited for more content:

You have removed any usefulness the profession had. No one cares about/uses bombs that cost more gold alone than you can make with engineering. All the perks are gone, eng is by far and away the worst profession now.

Then you do what they told ya... Ughhhhhh

Why are u killing engi in the name of the chosen profs? (enchant / jc / bs)

Honestly, how can you use the explosives argument? And how do you expect us to keep #%!%ty engi chants on our gear when we also use that gear to arena? Wouldn't it be reasonable to make nitro boost simply a separate enchant (that can stack with other profession chants)?

Please, if you can't come up with a satisfying answer, why answer at all? Can you answer that? -_-

Don't try to make them understand..

They don't care, they don't even play the game.

EDIT: I just wish that ignore button that's next to every poster's name wasn't disabled for this guy. I would actually have hope for Engineering then...

Please enlighten us on how many trinkets and bombs are usable in arena? How good is tinkering in PVE? Before you make patronizing posts understand we are mad for a very good reason. You have seen to it that engineering is the worst PVE AND PVP profession now. Goggles? Nerfed. Nitros? Gone. GLG? Nerfed Bombs? Not usable in arena.

This game needs less developer bias and more actual time spent doing what we were promised in BC. A worthwhile profession.

Unfortunately neither of these provide anything comparable to the passive boost that JCers or other professions get.

The only "gadget" I remember getting out of Gnomish Engineering was the X-ray Goggles (or whatever the item is called). If I wanted to see everyone naked, I'd disconnect and reconnect my internet in the middle of an instance- though I know that's pretty much fixed now.

The fact of the matter is that Engineering is still subpar for PvE and now it's 'dead' (as in there is NOTHING we can use) in Arena, and there is still NOTHING we can sell from it. You could have given us the toy train, or the train wrecker, or something that wasn't a expensive-to-make trinket with a 1-hour cooldown and a mediocre ability (Hi-powered Flashlight).

But you didn't. You didn't buff our arguably inferior and relatively situational glove enchants. You didn't do a thing to the parachute cloaks, you didn't give us warning before-hand. You just stripped us naked and now we'll be waiting for two months in the cold before we see some glimmer of hope again.

You HONESTLY can say that to us with a straight face?
Honestly?
Wow, you guys are worse than any of us imagined.

Give us a list of these gadgets or explosives that have any end game use.

No, no, go ahead - WE'LL WAIT.

Oh right! Flexweave Underlay! Oh, wait... only 15 agi, and a slowfall that has no real usefulness except for a gimmick.

Wait wait... I've got it! Potion Injectors? Oh wait... you nerfed pots!

Wait! What about Saronite Bombs? ROFFLE. Costs so much money, you give us no way to make up for the expense.

The rockets? Okay, mediocre at best. At best.
Haste gloves? Only good for some.
Ammunition, that must be it? Oh wait, you've ruined that with the hunter changes.

The goggles... yeah, that's GOTTA be it! Oh wait, you took out the stealth detect, but didn't give the itemization points back into something else.

The trinkets? All useless now.

No, now I know I've got it! MOLL-E!! Yeah, that's it. An EIGHT HOUR CD item!
Jeez, what were we thinking!

None of them are particularly useful in a game which has weak emphasis on WORLD PVP. This game is 2 sided. PVE OR PVP. Battlegrounds have LOST THEIR WORTH and the majority of the PVP herd has gone in the direction of Arena. NONE OF THE GADGETS OTHER THAN ROCKET BOOTS, GLOVE ENCHANT AND LIGHTNING TRINKET WORK IN ARENA. NONE OF THE GADGETS ARE REALLY USEFUL IN PVE(expect for hyperspeed).

Many people pick up the professions that BENEFIT their style of gameplay.

Why?

BECAUSE, if you aren't a Jewelcrafter you don't really make that much return on your profession. Dailies are > than all professions other than JC in terms of gold.

So...

In that regard

People level the other professions for what benefits them the most. Engineers find that the schematics benefit them in PVP. Wow, you just took out one of our most valuable Tinkers. I wonder why we are angry? Why not take out ring enchants, lw bracer enchant and blacksmithing sockets?

Why give any player an advantage for leveling a profession?

As long as the game is based on math, it will be binary. Everything is quantified.
If something doesn't have some sort of by-and-large benefit of use over other things, there's no incentive to use it. This is why Jewelcrafting will continue to be the best profession in the game for PvE (and PvP now, since on-use items continually get nerf in favortism of passive stats).
