The current arena rating system allows more players to have higher ratings in the 2v2 bracket when compared to 3v3 and 5v5. We are preparing an in-game update that will be improving the rating system of the 3v3 and 5v5 brackets to allow all three of the brackets to have a similar number of players able to achieve ratings on par with what’s currently possible in our 2v2 arena bracket. As a result, we are changing the personal and team rating requirements for the item level 239 weapons from 2200 to 2350, but keep in mind the tooltip will continue to show the requirement as 2200 until patch 3.1.2.

As a result of the above improvements, this change will prevent an excessive number of players from reaching much higher ratings and acquiring the highest grade of weapons in-game. The increase in rating requirements is designed to keep the number of players able to obtain these arena weapons on par with the number of players who are able to obtain the same grade of weapons from Heroic Ulduar.

When Arena Season 7 launches we plan to return the highest rated season 7 weapons back to 2200 while also ensuring that the difficulty in achieving that rating is closer to what is intended, yet of similar difficulty for all brackets (rather than being easier for 2v2).

Just to be clear, the in-game update is coming before S7, right?

My understanding is that you're hotfixing the rating requirement to 2350 now, and then soon (tm) after, you'll be hotfixing 3v3/5v5 so it is easier to hit high ratings.

I hope your plan is not to make the 239 weapons require a 2350 non-hotfixed 5v5 rating in S6, that's near impossible. Even in 3v3, where rating is significantly easier to get, we're #1 and we're the only team on the battlegroup within range.

I wonder if they are going to turn the difficulty up on Ulduar encounters when they become farm status to prevent more people from getting high ilvl weapons.

I'm pretty sure a lot more people have access to the PvP 239 weapons than they do the Ulduar 239 weapons right now. 2200 2v2 is sickeningly easy, it is like ~1800 S4.

While I applaud the intent, I think the manner and precedent that Blizzard is setting with their rapid iteration of changes is going to turn a lot of players off, myself included. With this change specifically, I wish they have given more warning. I know some players have already purchased the 2200 OH weapon, while others haven't, and now cannot. I'm fairly certain creating an unbalanced playing field by introducing the change in the middle of the week was not intended, but gz anyways.

You haven't read the most recent in-game fixes huh? Bro, they've made Ulduar EASIER AND EASIER. This change makes no sense mid season. Why can't they let a season go without doing so many damn changes? Don't recall this many changes in s2 - s4.

For the people who ended last season in full deadly with either a Deadly Weapon or BoH, yes maybe it is easy. but for those of us still unlucky enough to be stuck with crafted weapons...not so much. And the gap is widening.

Do you really believe that bumping the rating up by 150 makes it anywhere closer to the difficulty of Algalon's encounter, something not a single guild worldwide has even completed yet? Completely ignoring the average raid progression of realms compared to world first-ers.

Which is why they moved some of his drops to other hard mode bosses?

A significant difference between PvP ratings and PvE raiding is that PvE raiders will acquire more gear over time, in theory making encounters easier. As time passes more and more guilds will down hard modes. The same is not true for PvP ratings; there is no guarantee that ratings will continue to climb necessarily.
