Is there anything specific I need to do to get this feature enabled? It's apparently a neat new feature with the latest nVidia drivers, but I don't I got it to work properly with WoW.

Hi Freidrich,
All you need to do is turn it on in the NVIDIA Control Panel. Keep in mind that World of Warcraft will get a hefty FPS drop with that option on (and even more if Transparency AA is on too)

I did enable it through the nvidia control panel, but everything stayed the same visually and I saw no hit in frame rate which was my biggest clue to it not working right. Is there maybe an in game setting that would conflict with this?

Not that I know of. The only reports I heard were people turning it on, the game looked pretty but they lost about half of their FPS. Do you have any global or wow.exe profiles on your NVIDIA Control Panel that might override the setting?

*edit*
Actually, forget that. it just plain doesn't work, no matter what setting I change and whether it's in fullscreen or windowed mode =/

*bump*
Anyone else been having this issue? I can't be the only one.
Just for reference, I'm using the latest official drivers 185.85 and a 9800 GTX+

Well, I tried this out last night and did not see a difference either. Does WoW need to be restarted after the option is (dis)enabled in the nVidia control panel? Is there any specific zone/location where the change would be especially conspicuous? I know in nVidia's example, they have a screenshot of the starting human area. Perhaps I will give that a try to see if i can replicate it.

Thanks!
Ambient Occlusion just intensifies the shadows in WoW, It doesn't do anything major but since WoW has a ton of shadows it kills performance.

You do not need to restart the game, I tried it myself just checking it out and was able to alt tab between the game and desktop to see the results of most video changes I made... I am not impressed with the new shadow effects created, if the FPS didnt take such a huge hit I might reconsider...
Using nVidia drivers 186.18 WHQL I noticed very little performance loss enabling both Ambient Oclusion AND Tranparency Anti-Aliasing (Multisampling) but it seems that any other driver version I try I do, indeed, take a pretty big hit. Currently using 190.56 Beta drivers with both AO and TAA off - decent performance and the ability to alt-tab again.
Using a MSI GTX260 OCv4 @ 655/1050/1408 stock clocks, AMD 5000+ BE @ 3.0gHz 1.32v, 2x2GB G.Skill PC8000 DDR2 @ 1000mHz 2.1v, Abit AX78 setup... one of those middle-performing setups that does absolutly fine on everything else, just always seems to fall short of WoW's epic PC needs.
