Overall, a better system would have been a "This item starts a quest" item (repeatable quest) that allows you to pick which croc you wanted. Then it would have only been double RNG, and people who particularly wanted one color would have a much better shot at that.

Poor coding = Tripple RNG, non-Unique, and too-low drop rate. Then there's the situation where the RNG seems to defy the law of averages. Sometimes it seems like it's weighted somehow.

Thanks, Blizzard. You guys can suck the fun out of a clown.

Q u o t e:
I've done this quest every single time it's been up, and still haven't got a baby Crock pet. Are there any plans to increase the drop rate on this, and/or add the quest to the new Dalaran Dailys, so we at least don't have to port to Shatt all the time?

Edit: fixd tha speelin

I talked about this recently and we agree this one is pretty bonkers and would like to change it in the future, there is just no ETA on that. On a brighter not, there is no special treatment/loot from one of the Dalaran daily fishing quests to another.

And so Bornakk continued on his fateful journey, sliding perilously down the dripping, gaping maw of fate as if it were a waterslide.

Good to know at least the strand crawler isn't limited by what daily it is and the possibility of getting it in a color I already I have, as it only comes in one.

There's not even a reason for these pets to retain a double RNG, let alone a triple. I prefer the simplistic idea of simply allowing them to drop from any bag, as unique items, with roughly the same drop rate. I mean it really is an exercise in futility most of the time with this. I even question if the quests are truly equal in probability, because this one seems massively less common across all realms than certain others. And if that's the case, that's even beyond the already unfair realm this covers.

As I said before, I don't mind RNG. What I mind is not even having the opportunity 75% of the time. It makes these pets more difficult to obtain than any rare drop mount from a raid. At least you do get a chance every few days or every week, whatever the case may be. There's no ifs ands or buts about it. Sure you have to beat other people's rolls, most of the time at least. But there's something people have been talking about on this board for a while... the opportunity to get it is still there. With this quest, that doesn't exist most of the time. You go to Shattrath, realize it isn't the daily once again, and you've been defeated in one fell swoop without even really getting to do anything. Items should not be rewarded like this, and as I pointed out before, why does this only apply to the pets? I'm not trying to get the polar bear mount nerfed again, but really Blizzard, why not show a little equivalence here? I really fail to see why the mount is allowed to drop from all the bags and the crocs are confined to just one.

If you do obtain a pet, you can still get the same bucket again as I sadly found out the other day.

I lucked out and got my final croc today. Was only missing Muck and got very lucky to get him as my reward today. I also never got a repeat croc from the daily. Keep going, they will drop it's all rng.

If you make the croc drop from any of the quests I'd love you long time.

Thanks. Glad to see it's at least being considered for the future. Lots of new stuff next patch to occupy my frusterations in the meantime.

Awesome! Making the croc pets unique would also help the problem. Getting a pet only to see "Already known" is rather saddening.

I got my swim trunks and my flippy floppies.

These seem to be the hardest pets(attainable) to get in the game since its a miracle if the damn quest is even up 3/30 days in a month. Would sure be nice if it went in order or something so atleast it will be up once or twice a week instead of the same quest like 5 days in a row.

I just got my 3rd a few days ago, I didn't start raising fishing until I was well into 80. In comparison, I STILL have not got the stupid Polar Bear and I have certainly been doing that quest more than Crocks in the city.

Imo, Crocks needs no change.

RNG is RNG.

You are significantly more likely to get the polar bear than the crocs.

you got lucky with it and therfore it needs no change funny how people think that way.
Well I have been doing it every time it is up since I hit 70 (about a year) and I only have one pet ....3 of that one pet in fact

You really need to learn how to look at the big picture and stop basing things off your own luck. I got Be Mine relatively easy, but that didn't stop me from complaining about it on this forum. It was wrong, plain and simple, doesn't matter if I got it or not.

The Strand Crawler is just a lame Magical Crawdad, imo. Really could have done better in that department. The Compass also fails to impress (and coming from a random crap addict, I don't even plan to keep it if I get it, so that's saying something), but I suppose you can't expect fishing to always be a winner.

Damnit, I got myself thinking. How about:

  • Harpoon gun, works like Death Grip, that only works on NPCs.

  • Land fish! Fish with robotic leg attachments and a small glass-filled fish tank over its head. Perhaps it could collaborate with Engineering...

  • Living branch fishing pole, like the Hunter staff from back in the day.

  • Ulduar star constellation fishing pole, because that would simply look amazing.

  • One-use Dwarven Fishing Poles, act like sticks of dynamite, received a bit less regularly than Glow Worms. Chuck one within 10 yards of a pool, it explodes, and you can loot all the contents of the pool like normal loot along with gray [Charred Fish Chunk]s.

  • [Tasty Guppy]. You throw it on the ground and a Murloc baby will pop out to eat it and act as a mini pet for 10 minutes. You can target your Murloc to feed him another and stack the duration he stays (aka if you throw him one when he has 30 seconds left it refreshes and he gains 20 minutes on his timer, another 19:30 later and he gains 30 minutes, etc), or throw another on the ground to get another baby Murloc to follow you for 10 minutes, up to 5 following you at any one time.

  • [Portable Lagoon.] One hour cooldown, summons a small body of water (~4 feet radius) that is active with lilly pads and frogs and such. Clicking on it lets you float on a raft with a cold one in your hand. You float randomly around your pond and sigh contently and sip beer until you jump out.

A bit too late for 3.1, but I think Fishing Dailies 2.0 could use some fleshing out.
