I posted this on Quest forum, but it's pretty dead over there so, I've been wondering about a few things. What's the quest in the game with the most steps? What's the one that takes longest to complete? Some one suggested opening the gates of AQ and someone suggested the Linken quest chain.

Yeah that is a long quest chain. hmmm... There are a few quests that you start early in the game then just end, but are picked up much later. Those can tend to be pretty long.

Fallen Hero of the Horde (if I recall correctly) was a pretty long quest line and had some great experience and gold reward to it.

For alliance, this starts at the top of the tower in Nethergarde Keep. It takes you all over both continents, gatthering and killing stuff.
Some of the mobs were evade-bugged, so I waited 3 months to finish it. Also, the final step requires all 5 members of your party be on the same step of the quest; once Blizzard relaxed this step, I was able to finish it.

I'd be willing to bet before the SSC and BT attunments were removed, getting attuned for BT was miles longer. Considering getting attuned for BT involved not only getting reved with all those factions, but you had to do those raids too and what not.

The quest that has you kill the emperor at the end of BRD.
I mean, seriously, I remember back in the days before BC when it took hours to get that deep in BRD. Not to mention no one ever wanted to go that deep.

You mean SSC and "TK", the Hyjal and BT Attunements are still there.
