While perusing the WoW manual while I was installing the game I saw character names with upper case letters in the middle of the name. So I figured I would use that to include a last name for my character. I named him FehlSharpeye, but sadly my capitalization was ignored. :(
Arthur turned it over nervously in his hands.
"I like the cover," he said. " 'Don't Panic.' It's the first helpful or intelligible thing anybody's said to me all day."

Yes, I was under the same illusion. They should at least support CamelCase names.

WLK would be a great time. I'd hate to try to make a DK on an old server where virutally *every* name is taken. Plus it should cut back on the morons using the extended ASCII characters because they absolutely must have a given name.
Having a surname is an expectation I have. It's the most important contributing factor for character customization and my enjoyment of an RPG. It actually pisses me off that Blizzard puts so much programming effort into characters being able to change factions, change races, but refuses to make a simple addition like surnames.
I'm giving it till the next expansion comes out, if I don't see surnames then. I'm done with the Word of Warcraft. I know Blizzard really doesn't care, and most of you don't either, but for me, having a surname is about my character's development. I usually play characters in families. I always create my characters with a surname in mind, hoping that Blizzard will finally come through. But after 3 years of playing, I'm thinking it's time to move on.

Some other games have had surnames for over 10 years now. From launch even.
And a happy 2nd birthday to this thread!
'F' is the Fire that rains from the skies
'U' for Uranium BOMB!
'N' is for No Survivors...

Necroing posts is bad. Please don't do it. If you would like to resurrect a topic, please do so in a new just fresh from the dryer way. Not in the, 'Look what I found in the dusty garage corner' way. Thanks!
