In the upcoming patch we will be introducing voice chat, which allows players to talk to each other in-game with the use of a microphone. To ensure that we provide the quality play experience we’re committed to, we will be ramping up the voice chat feature in multiple stages. Currently we are scheduling voice chat to be available on patch day for a limited number of realms. While all realms will still receive the 2.2 patch, and all the content and changes therein, only some realms will have voice chat enabled at the start. We plan to then enable voice chat for the remaining realms the following week. This ramp up release will help us to test the voice chat feature in a live realm environment before enabling it on all realms.

The Voice Chat feature is now active on all realms. Players will need to go into the Options menu under Sound & Voice to activate it. We look forward to hearing you in game!

We have found the issue that was preventing the activation of the Voice Chat feature and currently estimate that we will have the remaining realms activated by 3:30 PM PDT.

Due to implementation issues we have had to postpone the launch of voice chat for the below realms for today. We will provide an update as soon as we have a planned time to restart the below realms and activate voice chat, most likely some time tomorrow.

We are going to be issuing rolling restarts for the select realms listed below in order to activate the Voice Chat feature. We will update this post once all realms are live with this change.

11:30 AM PDT- We have run into some errors with the launch of the Voice Chat and will be doing rolling restarts on the listed realms to turn off this functionality for today. We will be restarting the Voice Chat system tomorrow and will announce its launch once we have the time finalized.
10:00 AM PDT- Voice Chat on the listed realms below is now live.
UPDATE: 9/19
We have recently revised our schedule for the activation of voice chat following the patch release. On patch day, all realms will launch with voice chat disabled. This is to allow for any further testing or changes that may be required. The following day we will enable voice chat on the realms listed below. With further testing at that point, and should things go smoothly, we will enable voice chat the following day on additional realms, or potentially all realms. This schedule is of course likely to change should the testing periods show any issues that will require additional time to resolve.
