I just thought of the effect of being known by most as a nickname. It struck me while reading a post where Zarhym explained the cubicle placement for a portion of the blue crew. Do you think they (Zarhym, Bornakk, GC, Neth and the rest of them) call eachother by the nicknames they use here on the forums?

I fail to compress the mighty floating skull and the friendly orc into the picture of two guys standing by the water cooler saying "hey john, I just painted my picketed fence again. You should SEE the shade of white I found!" and Bornakk or whoever answers "wow Charles, that does sound magnificent indeed!"

Just a random thought. :)
If Zarhym hasn't posten in a thread, I'm not reading it.

The idea of Zarhym's name being Charles made me laugh really hard for some reason.

I think you missed the topic. I'm not sure anyone would (or in the case of your first suggestion, COULD) pronounce those names around the water cooler. >>

But remember, these people don't just PLAY the game, they LIVE, WORK, and BREATH nerd.

So I don't think it's that far fetched that their nicknames are like their screen names.

I live, work, and breathe nerd for the most part, and people still call me by my birth name.

It's a lot harder when you meet people as an alias, though. I've met guild mates as well as some Blizzard employees at Blizzcon, and it was difficult to think of them as anything other than their name at first. O.o Eventually, you get over it.
