One change we are (probably) going to make that will help Resto PvP a little is this:

The Tree of Life talent currently grants bonus healing to group members and reduces the cost of your hots in tree form. We would like to change the talent to say "Reduces the mana cost of all your hots and also lets you go into tree form, which grants bonus healing."

In other words, you would not need to be ToL to get the cheaper hots (in PvE or PvP) so long as you had the ToL talent. In PvP, you could still use tree form when you wanted to be more tanky but your efficiency would not be so bad when in caster form.

I approve of this change.

That would be a pretty epic change.

Thanks for listening~!

Also, 30 yd cyclone and no LB change imo.

Edit : Hotfix Plague Strike so I can play my Druid again. An ability that gamebreaking really shouldn't be in the game.

That would be a really great change, altho I still feel we would need alot more help then just that to be including in PvP.

edit: Another thing that could really be helpful would be increasing Moonglow to 6/12/18 instead of the current 3/6/9. Would help both specs of moonkin and resto.

Will this change help? Yes. But it would be much more effective, simple, and consistent to just give us cyclone and roots while in ToL. Those two spells are why we shift. Shadow priests and moonkins do not give up their cc to enter their form, and neither should we. Instead, we should simply give up our offensive spells, just as they give up their heals. Forms should always have access to cc and utility.

Note that the problem of "forms" seems to extend to any class that has them - warriors, shadow priests, and druids are all having serious issues in Arena. I doubt this is coincidence. In today's much faster-paced arena, the lost gcd's due to stance-dancing and shifting are simply too burdensome. The necessity of shifting needs to be reduced.

This change is a step in the right direction, but it only moves us from having to choose between bad and worse (ToL, old caster) to bad and bad (ToL, improved caster). We will still be forced to choose between a complete lack of utility or weak heals and uber-squishiness. We won't win either way.

And it does little to mitigate the more fundamental problem - our net mana (pool+regen+abilities+efficiency) is far, far behind that of other healers while in PvP gear. Just as in S1-4, the healer that lasts longest usually wins. In TBC, druids lasted longest. Now, its Pallies >> Shamans > Priests >> Druids.

THIS is the fundamental issue that Blizzard needs to address, and I see little in 3.1 that will help it much, especially with the Spirit changes hammering Priests and Druids in PvP.

I think the idea is interesting. My concern is that you will reduce the amount of additional healing done by the aura as a consequence of this proposed change. So, instead of 6% it would now become 4% or 5%. You reduced the cost of shifting into ToL so that it is on par with Travel form. This was a great idea. I believe any Druid worth their salt is doing a shifting playstyle in PvP _at least some of the time_. All of this talk about just standing in Tree all of the time is certainly not how I play when it comes to BG/PvP. You gave us a Barkskin Talent which when I tried it on PTR was awesome. Now there is a Barkskin Glyph which seems like an even better idea. Of course, it isn't clear whether it is a Major or Minor Glyph. I won't get into Armor Penetration. Anyway, we have all of these new tools and I think it's good. The LB nerf I can take or leave. I understand some of the other Druid players are upset about the change and I hear that though I am not convinced that it will hurt all playstyles. I think the necessity to roll 3 LBs is due to the fact that the opposition is generally OP. :D This appears to be changing. Now, whether people don't want to change, or they don't want to reprogram their buttons, or they like their muscle memory really pales in comparison to the fact that Lifebloom was ridiculed when it first came out. It was decried and all sorts of bad things. I notice Nourish has gotten the same treatment. Sort of strange to me.

What I do not feel has been adequately addressed at this time is the Innervate regen situation. Revitalize seems a bit clunky and subject to change at the moment but in a PvE setting I think it will be fine. In PvP, I do not believe Revitalize is going to solve the problems for Restos who may not spec into it. It certainly will not help Moonkin or Feral. The answer seems to be with Innervate. Is there anything you can do? Perhaps alter the Glyph? Change it up some more? This seems like the last issue in my mind standing in the way of a pretty substantive patch. I am excited. Thanks for the feedback.

P.S.

I thought that the Living Ice Crystals would be awesome if there were a Use effect that bumped up the Spellpower for a bit.

Looks like you guys though so, too. Thanks!

That's a start, but I really don't get what your overall vision is. First you buff ToL armor which I assume is to encourage druids to use it more and / or to give them a much needed survivability boost. Now you're going to buff efficiency when not using ToL?

If druids can't survive a melee attacker without using ToL for the armor bonus, efficiency doesn't matter. If they CAN survive a melee attacker without the armor bonus they'll be nearly impossible to kill in ToL form.

So, are druids going to be able to survive a melee attacker without using ToL? The way I see it, they'll be too difficult for a melee attacker to kill or they'll be forced to stay in ToL form. That isn't opening up play-style options. That's forcing everyone into the same play-style vs melee. Stand there and take it. Is that really the goal?

I'm frustrated because I play casually. I have two characters; this priest and a druid. It's unlikely I'll every have enough time to level a 3rd. My druid was my first serious character and I've been playing it since about v1.2 (I think). I like switching forms. I like the mobility. That's why I rolled a druid.

With WotLK it seems like you guys are making a huge push to reduce shifting and mobility. Those aren't play-style options, they're class defining abilities / skills. If I wanted a stand there and take it healer I would have created a paladin. I didn't, I don't and you shouldn't be forcing it down my throat.

I like the way you guys have been using these forums and appreciate that you've created what's probably the best player-developer interaction I've ever seen. I think it's added a ton of value to the game.

However, in this case I think you're misinterpreting negative feedback as the "we don't want to get nerf'd" kind. That's not the case. Nerf away if it needs to be done, but please go back and look at the druid changes you're making. They're not just nerf's, they're going to have major impacts on the way the class plays and (IMO) they'll make the druid class less enjoyable.

Edit: The forums seem a bit wonky today. This is obviously not my priest. It's my druid.
