Not entirely sure how people are doing it, they either obtained the script or are using a 3rd party addon, but they are linking achievements that show up with their name and the current date and completed despite not actually having completed them.

I'm sure lots of people will say its not a big deal, but most people think achievements are worthless to begin with, so if the ARE worth something, i would say people being able to link false achievements kinda takes away from whatever they might be worth.

when in doubt, wowarmory.

just keep in mind that if they got the achievement the same day the linked it might not be updated on wowarmory!

yeaaa people are just linking any and every achievement, like mages linking warglaive of azzinoth pair achievement, people linking grand marshal title achievement, despite this being a new server not open to transfers meaning no one could possibly have an old school pvp title/achievement

people right next to me linking heroic: glory of the raider, which inspecting them shows they definitely don't have it, or very many achievements at all in fact

its not a case of things not updating, people are just linking fake achievements

I always come prepared when I'm not going anywhere.

Wow, that's lame.

Please stop removing aesthetic rewards from old content Blizzard. It does not make the game more fun.

I just used Wowhead's "link" thing to try and link [Well Read] (an achievement I don't have). I got DC'd for it.

I was able to make a fake achievement for getting Justicar, an ally only achievement. Got quite a few whispers asking how I was able to get exalted with them.

This is Blizzard here. They have this odd trade in policy. For every one bug you get them to take out, they have to give us 10 more bugs.

That however is awesome.

I remember when I first discovered Loot Link I went and got the links for the horde GM stuff and then started linking it in Ally trade. People were asking me how much for it...

I'm pretty sure what happened was they linked you a friends achievement and you didn't bother reading it so you invited them to your lolpugnaxx, then found they had full greens and did 1500 dps on Thaddius. I blame the school system.

A lot of people who pug Maly or Sarth+drakes require people to link the achievement as proof of experience with the fight, so this would be pretty handy in terms of getting into groups.

Until you %!#* up, that is.

as far as i know they can only make fake completed ones with the completed date the day it currently it is, so i think it would be a little conspicuous if you got the achievement the same day you want to go with them, yet you somehow are magically not saved

You can alter the date that the achievement says you completed it.

On my Horde character, I made a link that said I was realm-first Dwarf to 80 in November something, 08

You know what this is like?

It's like if I had a photo of a red ferrari with me sitting behind the wheel saying this is my car.

That obviously makes owning a red ferrari less of an achivement, right?

If they link it and it says completed, they completed it. "Faking" links of any kind gets you DC'ed since patch 1.4 or something.

i'm going to have to strongly disagree, someone found a way around it

as i mentioned earlier, people are linking grand marshal title achievements and old school pvp-titles are not possible to own on this new server i am on, as it is not available to transfers

I've also seen several people linking other crazy achievements right next to me that when i compare achievements with them, they dont have it

this entire game is pretty much pictures

yes, i would say owning a fake picture makes owning a real picture less of an achievement

http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p101/uzumaki_arashi_album/WoWScrnShot_031009_171022.jpg

Just rolled a brand spankin' new level 1 toon and according to SS I have the achievement for What Long, Strange Trip It's Been on Feb 2, 2009

Not good enough? Try this one: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p101/uzumaki_arashi_album/WoWScrnShot_031009_171508.jpg I completed Naxx10 at level 1, only a few minutes game time on my toon. And completed Naxx10 way back in Jan 1 of 2003.

Fake achievement with dates set anytime is possible. And this does not cause DC. If you still doubt me, go on Detheroc and if I am on and not busy I can make just about any achievement (allies only too), any date and time no earlier than Jan 2001 and I can send the link.

- In the beginning the World of Warcraft was created. This made a lot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.
- To prove that 0.999… ≠ 1, just find something useful about 0.000…1.
