I am pleased that these options were added. However, the only thing that seems to be missing are non-red combo points. I understand that some graphics work may need to be done, whereas all the other options where only lua additions.

Is it planned to also add a color blind friendly combo point UI element? Just want to know if I still need to maintain my color blind addon with this sole feature or if a Blizzard version is in the works. Thanks.

Thanks for bringing this up, we had missed it and will add it!

Also, if anyone has any suggestions for how the UI's colorblind mode could be further improved, we'd love to hear them, keeping in mind that we probably won't be able to add everything right away.

Thanks for the info, Zoot :)

From what I have seen on the PTR, the new options seem fairly complete. However, since color blindness can vary from person to person, not all people may want all options turned on all the time.

Options to turn each UI element type on or off would be nice, if time allows.

I'll definitely take a good luck at this since I my color vision is about 1% of a normal person. I don't have red/green, blue/purple, yellow/light green, light gray/light blue or any other issue. I have issues with any colors that are similar in a grayscale world (I do see color but extremely limited).

Thanks for adding this.

One thing that I noticed that could be added in the future is debuff icon borders.

Magic has a light blue border. Disease has a brownish border. Poison is green. Curses are purple. Undispellable effects are red.

Perhaps a character could be displayed in the corner of the icon. A magic debuff could have a M, for example.

I like that idea, say the blizzard team creates another frame that is similar to say the stack text frame, position it in the opposite corner. Set M=Magic(blue), P=Poisonl(Green), D=Disease(brown), S=Stealable(yellow), the leave it blank for physical.

Have a checkbox in the options for "Enable Colorblind on Buffs/Debuffs".

Huzzah!

and on another note, for combo points, make a text frame that can show the number. So if the target has 4 combo points it shows "4" on the target frame. This approach (though simple) would appeal not only to colorblind people, but also for people who would just like a number :)

This is the best solution possible for the combo point problem. I'm not color blind, but i can't tell the difference easily between the active and non active points. This change should really be folded into the base UI, i think. That being only active points how up and the others are hidden.

Thanks for the info. However, I am not color blind myself and I maintain an addon here -

http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info6395-ColorBlind4.0.html

This addon currently does everything the new 3.1 changes Blizzard made will do, save for the combo points. I was merely inquiring to see if I should get that addon up to 3.1 speed =)

But Zoot has settled the issue for me in that it was something they over-looked and I am please they will most likely add it.

If there's any way you can make the cursor size scale with its own UI scale, or a way to replace the cursor, that would be great.

I'm losing sight of the cursor all the time, and the UI scale in the game scales everything, so if I want a larger cursor, my buttons are way huge.

Otherwise, TYVM for implementing the Color Blind features! :D

TY, I'm already using that.

Unfortunately, I still lose sight of the cursor itself, and the animation that _Cursor adds slows things down a bit.

If I can just get the pointy finger cursor image to be bigger w/o making everything else bigger on my UI, I'd be set. :)

EDIT: sight not site

Good job Blizz for recognising this important feature!

Combo points was the main reason i used the Color Blind addon - creds to Hwab, Megabob and Maul!!

Color Blind addon provided the ability to enable the different components separately.

For example I prefer to have the coins icon on, Item level on, Combo points on. But that suits me.

For those that are interested, INCLUDING addon developers, one of many sites that will aid you in creating color blind friendly work is http://www.colblindor.com/2008/12/23/15-tools-color-blindness/

The choice of colours used for Epic/Rare is a simple example of not considering a large group of people who may play the game.

Looking forward to rapid advances in this area!

Heck, I'd use this and I'm not even color blind.

Those little red circles are really REALLY hard to see.

I have an addon which counts my combo points in numerical form... Actually, it does the same thing for my Sunders on my Warrior.
