When 3.1 goes live, the rewards for “Glory of the Raider” and “Heroic: Glory of the Raider” are being removed. These achievements will still be active, however, players will no longer receive the Plagued Proto-Drake or Black Proto-Drake for completing them. Similar to our decision to remove the Amani War Bear from Zul’Aman, the goal is to ensure that such mounts retain a degree of rarity in the game; and with raids progressing into Ulduar in patch 3.1, we feel obtaining the rewards for “Glory of the Raider” and “Heroic: Glory of the Raider” would be somewhat trivialized. For this reason we will be offering new fast mounts (310 speed) as rewards for completing select achievements associated with 10 and 25-player Ulduar.

That is a regular 280% mount and they are not adding any new 5-mans, so I suspect it will remain the same.
I am glad for this change, it is nice to see that Blizzard is still providing a point of differentiation for those who were able to succeed at the more challenging aspects of the game.

I don't believe this is a good idea, to be honest. Sure, with Ulduar gear it may become easier to achieve, but it still does not change the fact that people are aiming to do them for the mounts. It will only be trivialized if there is nothing to gain in the end. So, please, I would prefer if the rewards were not removed...I really want those mounts!

there seems to be new proto drakes coming from ulduar anyway. if people really want a 310% mount from PvE, they can try for that one (assuming at least one of the new ones are 310%)

that's lame. I'm no were near getting either of these mounts, but I just don't see the upgrade in gear from Ulduar being big enough to trivialize most of the heroic raid achievements. Would prefer to see these mounts obtainable until the next raid teir (3.2) or the next level cap increase.
Wouldn't this be like taking out the Amani Warbear at the release of Sunwell since the gear from that raid made it easier to do the timed run in ZA? Oh well, as long as the 5 man heroic achievement proto-drake doesn't go away I can deal with it, espescially since the drakes are being "replaced" with some pretty cool looking models.

I should still be able to finish off the handful of achievements I still need for this (barring retard moments on our immortal runs), but I do feel bad for my 2nd guild that i play with some times in 10 mans. They are 10 man only and been working on 10 man OS with drakes (gotten 1 so far), but realistically the encounter is tuned with 25 man gear in mind. The DPS, tank HP, etc just isn't there for them and it will probably be the only achievement they can't get.
I initially understood why 3D OS 10 was tuned to 25 man gear as it would be trivial if it were 10 man tuned, but I am beginning to think that was a mistake if they are gonna remove the drakes.

You know... putting out all sorts of nice things just to turn around and say "just kidding" while people are in the process of working for it really isn't a great way to encourage people to play, take their time, ENJOY THE CONTENT, and work on it with their friends at their own pace.
If you only want a certain percentage of the playerbase to have something, you may as well just go with the original server first model and stop pretending everyone will have a shot.
It really...well, just isn't cool, especially after all the hype you guys put in over achievements and how it'd be a great new way to earn rewards and so on.
I doubt my two cents will change anything, but I seriously thought it needed to be said.
