The additional damage will be a "bare minimum" type thing to give us minimal viability. It's not like you're going to see a Resto Druid or Holy Paladin topping damage meters in a raid because of some crazy spell damage. God forbid healers are capable of doing anything besides healbotting WHILE THEY'RE BY THEMSELVES. Oh wait. That's not right. When we're by ourselves, things will be slightly faster and a little smoother for us. That's it. That's all. We won't be caster DPS'ers with crazy healing abilities. We'll just be able to solo a mob in 1 min. instead of two, and half our mana bar instead of the whole thing. Don't worry DPS'ers. You'll still be able to kill crap in 10 seconds, but we shouldn't have to suffer because we're a role that helps your dumbass out.

My resto druid does the BEM dailies (exalted now) since they involve little killing but stays far away from Netherwing dailies (which my warlock does.)
Its too bad we can't have a separate solo spec different than a group spec. Yes, I have caster gear but it still does pitiful damage compared to my warlock. My warlock has a much higher Kills Per Hour averaging the downtime for eating/drinking versus the low druid downtime but much less damage. To me balance means all classes would have the same KPH.
I have little interest in melee damage but sometimes forced to do so during the BEM quests (spell reflecting hogs.)

The plan is for a percentage of the +heal stat on items with pure +heal to be added as +spell damage, for no extra cost. Further details and exceptions will be discussed at a later time.

I hope to god this isn't the dev's solution to the Moonkin itemization problem.

That made me cringe a little bit when I pictured it in my head.

That's great to hear. There is no reason why healing-specced classes should not be able to solo farm, etc. And it gives them more viability in PvP for those times when people simply don't need heals.

So when do prot specced warriors and paladins get buffs to help them solo in PvE? Not that I disagree with giving healers some soloing love, but prot tanks have it just as bad if not worse.

Q u o t e: My money is on the system being like this.. You have 2000 healing from gear and from that healing you'll get 500 damage.
That's still a *vast* improvement. I think the point of this change is mostly PvP related. When soloing you can just change gear, but in combat if the people you're healing get killed(yes it does happen regardless of how good you are at healing, sometimes your target just gets bursted that hard) it doesn't leave you completely defenseless. Spam healing yourself won't kill that 1 person attacking you.

What exactly is the reason why we can not respec for a small amount of gold that does not encrease everytime we do so? Isn't easier to respec shadow or ret for whenever you're doing solo questing and then spec back to healing when you need to heal at no more than 5 gold every time you do it?
Or is letting your playerbase have fun not something you care about in this game anymore?

Any idea when these changes might be going into effect... hopefully they don't plan on waiting till the expansion to fix this long standing issue.
Doesn't seem like a hard thing to fix imo... x% of bonus healing doubles over as bonus damage or do they plan on working it like arena points... once you reach over y healing (lets say 2k) your % dmg goes down.
ie healer has 2k healing say 25% doubles over as dmg giving them 500 spell dmg which is pretty decent for pve and atleast as good as a new lvl 70.
I know in dps gear I get close to 1k dmg and in healing gear have over 2k healing... so this example would be a nerf in a ways but it would prevent me from having to carry around 2 sets of gear all the time.
