We don't plan to do this as it defeats the purpose of a multi-tiered emblem (badge) system. If you want emblem of valor gear right now, you can either look into groups for Naxxramas 25 or hit Ulduar 10 when that is available as that is likely how it will work.

Please do add other things to buy with heroism though. It would be nice if good tanks and healers still ran heroics for some kind of reward, gems from heroism were a good step.

We have not added anything on the PTR at this point and I haven't heard of any plans to do so, we'll see how things go though.

How about adding some more heirlooms in the patch? Some itemization is missing like a 1h melee mace or fist weapon and a 2h melee mace.

One thing that I fear is that heroics are going to lose their relevance in the game quite soon. It won't be long before 80% of the players out there have all 5 reputations maxed, their Red Proto-Drakes, and all iLevel 213 epics or better. This means that players will no longer have incentive to run heroics, and they'll soon go the way of every other 5-man in the game. TBC got heroics right, because the badges remained lucrative all the way to 2.4 (this is also what kept players running Kara every week). I'm not saying that there needs to be new heroism rewards, or a trade-up to better badges, but I'd like to see some sort of incentive to keep running heroics all the way until the end of this expansion. New factions to champion, or a choice of a monetary or epic gem reward (in lieu of the 2 emblems) from the Proof of Demise dailies would be a good place to start.

I'd agree with the poster above me actually. If the devs would be willing to add either some more complete weapon itemization for heirlooms or perhaps something else like more complete ilv200 gear slots for badges(for the purpose of allowing people to gear up for raid content on fresh characters), it would continue to encourage running heroics without making the gear attainable excessively potent for the content.

Is this a bad thing?

It would push high-geared players into (a) more raiding, or (b) non-PVE content like arena or achievements, or (c) leveling alts.

However, by keeping high-geared players out of heroics, heroics will be a little more friendly to leveling-up characters.

Do you want to see heroics+naxx be eternally re-run as a gear treadmill for the next year?

It means that raiders have nothing to do on their off-time except farm consumables. Running heroics is usually cost-ineffecient unless you get something other than gold out of it, in terms of time spent. I know I have little to do at the moment other than the 8 or so hours a week I spend raiding. I hate pvp in WoW, if I wanted PvP I'd go play WAR. Hell, I'd even run Naxx PUGs on a regular basis if it didn't lock me out of the instance for a week when I got a bad group.

Which would totally defeat the point of the heirloom items... seriously did you even think about this before you posted?

To the post above me, hopefully we can continue to filter down badges. Meaning if I end up with enough ulduar 25 badges, then we can send them down the chain for heirloom/gems/mount. Surely when epic gems are introduced we will see the same badge for gem purchases at some badge level.

I would love this as well.

If you haven't noticed, there's a big difference between deathknights and other characters. DKs start at 55 and everything else begins as a level 1 character.

I like raising new characters, but the DK advantage really sucks when you're getting mauled by bears on your alt mage while running through Silverpine.

But the heirloom items make the low level experience not-so-terrible. They're fun to collect and are the reason I still run heroics even when there's nothing else I need from those zones. It's cool to start out a rogue with 2 daggers, 2 trinkets, and shoulders.

In any mmorpg, as you progress through expansions, the old world leveling experience has to be accelerated in order to bring new players into current content. Heirloom items are an excellent way of accomplishing this.

I hope that you'll continue to add heritage items throughout this expansion and in expansions to follow.

I see it as a bad thing, yes. To me, 5-mans and raiding are two totally different experiences. Raiding is something that I typically do on a scheduled basis, or try to throw together when i have a 4-hour chunk of time open on a weekend. A 5-man is something that I can log on and do when I get home from work, with a minimum of effort in organization, and a 30 minute to 1 hour time commitment after we have the group together. I don't like to think of heroics as just another step on the path to raiding, to be ignored and forgotten once you're naxx geared. Players should be able to do both, in my opinion, and they should have a good reason to do both as well.

And I don't really get your argument that keeping high-geared players out will make things more friendly to leveling-up players. I'm not saying make heroics more difficult, that's what achievements are for. Most of the fresh 80s do heroics and skip the achievements, and come back and do them later when they're a little more geared and skilled. I don't see how giving geared players one more motivation to return, would discourage undergeared players from trying to do heroics.

I don't think it's necessarily one or the other, and I would disagree that keeping high-geared players out of heroics would make them more friendly to low-geared players. If anything, keeping heroics relevant gives an incentive for high-geared players to assist alts and rerollers in having less of an extreme gear shortfall when trying to do runs with their guild. Bringing undergeared alts/rerollers to the guilds normal raids is still an option, and possibly still the best one. It's just not the only option.

You wouldn't even need to make lower-level badges transmutable, but rather have heroic bosses drop a valor token whenever the associated achievement criterion is met. The same can be done with Valor/Conquest emblems (I believe Conquest is the next tier) and current heroic raid content.

With 3.1 please let us by helm and other tier gear using tokens. Or something besides boots and belts - like upgraded honor token gear or something.

I know lots of people with nothing to spend valour tokens on. We need more options - it'd be nice to get something for all of them.

It's sad when people convert valour tokens to honor tokens to buy a mount.
