I was extremely happy to hear about the dual spec system when they initially announced it, but now that it's here the whining about the cost and the fact that there are "only" two specs (despite both of these facts being known for a while now) has actually convinced me that maybe making positive changes in the game really does just make people cry more.

I'm not a fanboy, and Blizzard has gotten a lot of things wrong with WotLK, but come on...

This is why we can't have nice things.

Actually no, the 1000g cost wasn't "known for a while now", they only sprung it on us with the PTR release yesterday. Lie more please.

Wrong.

It was said, up front, that there would be a cost. The exact number wasn't known. Keep lying to yourself, maybe you'll feel more justified in your whining.

They stated weeks ago that there was going to be a one time cost for your second spec. What did you think it was going to be, given that a single respec is 50g?

That's a week PER TOON of extra farming... not to mention if I was to save already for epic flyers for all toons... and say I have 10 toons... that's TEN WEEKS of WORK for something that should be FUN.

How many specs did you expect with "dual" spec?

dual = 2

Ant the cost is cheap compared to what players are paying now when they respec several times a week.

1000 gold = 20 respecs.

The long term savings for frequent respecers will be huge.

Dual specialization isn't something everyone needs. It's a perk we're adding into the game, and it's initially going to require an investment. If you can't afford dual specializations for 10 different characters, you might not actually need all 10 of your characters to be able to swap between two specializations on a whim.

With a single 5-second, out of combat cast, players level 40 or higher will instantly be able to swap between two different talent specializations, glyph sets, and action bar set-ups from virtually anywhere in the world.

That kind of convenience and versatility shouldn't be obtained with absolute triviality.

Welcome to the forums. I love you.

Hopefully inscribers get a cut of that 1000g.

Here's a thought, it's not LIVE yet. You have time to collect that massive amount of 1k gold. This will probably be tested for 2-3 weeks+

Notice the part that I bolded, does this mean that there's no longer a "Portable Lexicon" to use up?

This is news, but good news!

By the way, most of my guild figured dual spec would cost 1k gold even back before the Q/A was out. It just seem right.
