With the change to Siphon Life will it add the damage siphon life currently does and a life leach effect to corruption or are we just losing a spell?

I'm hoping that Corruption will apply a second debuff that is siphon life so Drain Soul doesnt lose more of its power as an execute? Currently whats listed up there looks to be an affliction warlock DPS loss at first glance. I realize it is a first glance and nothing is set in stone and I would really appriciate it if you could clairify this.

wouldnt the removal of SL also nerf Soul Drain damage through the Soul Siphon talent by .05(considering 2 points in it) x the amount of aff. locks in your raid? was this intended?

The ideal implementation would be that corruption applies both corruption and siphon life. Lets hope that is what is gonna happen.

or they could add the damage of both of them together and have it drain the full amount. 1k per tick would still be crap considering a rogue can eat my 24k before it ticks twice

Basically, what this means is that warlocks who choose to take Siphon Life will be able to activate the full existing effects of the talent by simply casting Corruption.

Awesome! Thanks for the clarification.

If it's simply being changed to "You are healed for the damage your Corruption does" then it's not looking so nice...

-We lose Siphon Life damage.
-We lose 1 Affliction effect for Soul Siphon.
-We lose an extra debuff for dispelling purposes in PvP.

-We gain slightly more healing in a tree that already has a pretty good amount of self healing anyhow.

I think you miss the point of the felhunter paranoia change. I also think you fail to realise that when Blizzard makes changes that don't do it under the blanket of....

"Lets give this change to this class so we can screw them against this class".

The paranoia change was done to make Felhunter not the multi-purpose pvp pet selection for warlocks. Now I am 100% agreement that the implementation was very bad, because while they softened Felhunter's utility they didn't do anything to the other pets to make warlocks actually have to make a choice.

All the removal of paranoia did was make it harder for locks against rogues ... nothing more .. nothing less. like it or not this is THE PVP pet and always will be. Unless they make sacrifice an ability on a cooldown and not murder our pet of a shield that lasts 1 hit....

Which is very cool, to be honest. That's one less DoT to manage in Affliction's craziness, and it takes one more debuff off the boss to reduce server traffic. Very nice.

Thanks Eyo, do you know if it will come in the form of an additional affliction debuff that Soul Siphon can use to boost the damage of Drain effects?

Or at least...if that is its current form that the devs have or are working on?

Yes, but will they actually lose DPS though?

Watermasta - 69 Mage ► Shayeri - 64 Warrior

So I assume then that Haunt/Drain Life will also refresh the duration of the Siphon Life effect if you have Everlasting Affliction?

No mercy, no remorse.

SL being baked into corruption does simplify the affliction rotation. However the dmg lost to drain soul execute, dispels in pvp, or the details of the new mechanic need clarification.

SL's dpct was pretty high, especially when glyphed, how does that x'fer with corruption? A simple change to DS mechanics would be needed (~5% buff) but could be a stealth dmg nerf. If an average fight is 3-4 mins you are talking about 6-8 gcd's for SL as-is. 3-4 seconds is enough for 1 or 2 shadowbolts or a drain soul tick.

Need more info before saying one way or the other overall. As for dispels, how they rework contagion will determine things there. (please tell me that is in the works, that 5 point sink has been stale for awile now)

So there will be additional dmg and healing received back from it? Would it function as if you cast Corruption and it auto-casts Siphon life at the same time (even if that isn't have it technically works, I mean more from an end result)?

I appreciate you trying to clarify my draconic friend, but, it really seems as unclear as it was before.

It's the end of the World of Warcraft as we know it, and I feel fine!
