Q u o t e:

Wasn't it capitalism that stood by and did nothing while those death camps were constructed, and then used?

The Soviet Union was a superpower! What did you want the US to do? Nuke them? We tried lots of things like detente and an arms race.

Q u o t e:

You think captialism is a greater evil than death camps?

It's not about death camps being a greater evil than capitalism. It's about capitalism BEING a greater evil itself. I don't think you really understand the gravity of how bad capitalism is. It's seeped into American society and the mentality of dog-eat-dog applies in everything from business, social relations, etc. It's all about that capitalism and while some people are profitting from it, there are people truly suffering.

What are you going to say to someone who has to buy insurance outright, for an arm and a leg, to FIX that arm and a leg, while people who work with a lot of tenure get benefits get reduced cost, leaving small business owners and IC's paying full price. What about someone who has to jump through 50 hoops just to get free health care provided by the state and even then, not all services are available? These kind of people see more fortunate people who could pay it no problem and are in better health (look at Magic, doesn't that guy have HIV?) to a less fortunate person, they'd already be dead from AIDS.

How the hell is that fair? It's not. It's not fair that the ability and resources are there to help a person but is not available just because the price they charge is so high. I went to the ER for a simple treat/release and it ended up costing 800 + whatever the doctor charged. How is that fair? It's not, because they didn't do a damn thing.

This thread needs more people defending their country simply because it's their country. Just like how people with an xbox say their xbox is better than a ps3 because they own the xbox etc.

Defending your purchase is fun!

Q u o t e:

Because it's difficult to find a decent argument to a system where ideally everyone would be equals and prosper, IE Communism/Socialism.

Humans are flawed in that quite a few of us are greedy asshats, and one or two of this in power and the system is sort of FUBAR, which are the cases people like to point to. You know, the ones where people are promised paradise and end up with a deranged power hungry leader.

Communism = good
People = bad

Communism was good on paper, but bad in practice. This means Communism is bad, because it can not be implemented correctly.

Arguably, it means people are bad because they cannot implement it correctly.

Q u o t e:
it's fun to have real opinions. you should try it some time

That's funny, I wasn't aware there was some rule where one opinion counts and another isn't "real".

Let me go check in with the !%%#ing Thought Police and get an official lisence for my opinion and register it with the board.

Because people are flawed, not because Communism is.

Take the current financial crisis. It's not the Government's fault. It's the people IN the government and IN the banks that were greedy.

This is exactly why capitalism works and communism doesn't. Communism is an ideology that can never truly work.

WoW will NEVER be banned. Ever. Either this will NEVER be enforced (eg XXX porn being sold on every street corner when it is illegal - iz nice), or a classification will be applied.

PS Stop being noobs and thinking it wil be.

PPS Keep loving and shooting yourself seppos. guns ftw

PPPS You think your country is the bastion of freedom. Give me a break, look at your own disgraceful human rights record. From a country that was grown on a foundation of slavery, dont think that because you are allowed to carry a gun that equates to freedom.

Your financial sectors "freedoms" and your own greed for something for nothing (read no-doc high risk mortgages) are sending every democratic nation around the world into a recession. But you fly that flag, let off a few hollow points, choke on another hotdog, and keep telling yourself, yeah, we're the greatest.

Hmm really shouldn't have posted this article in hindsight, it's turned into an e-countrypeen competition.

All I did on this was post the article and title in contex with IGN'st. Not scaremongering personally, IGN maybe though but it seems a discussion about the possible stop of sales in Australia has gone too far.

Really? Communism in the Soviet Union and China produced some of the greatest gains in human welfare in the history of the world.

Immensely increasing life expectancy, eliminating diseases, vastly improving education, promoting the liberation of women, etc. etc.

But you could point to any/every system of government or economic system out there and its failures. I still believe that the closest we can get to laissez-faire capitalism is the best for us as a whole.

World now is too big to have a "perfect system", but I think to fix the rampant capitalism that exploits poor people to the extreme, we would need to change the mentality of the top executives in corporations and government intervention when acts that are clearly not fair take place

Might also need change in the society too

See) In Japanese corporations, it's normal for the CEOs to only get paid about 10x as much as lowest paid employee in the corporations, and when they retire, they tend to not take any extra bonuses or pensions

History repeats itself:
http://www.warcraftmovies.com/movieview.php?id=6140

This is why we must learn and understand lest we make same mistake again.
