Hi There,

I have noticed that with the recent Patch 3.08a, there has been an undocumented change to warrior fury TG build DPS and certain Tank Builds Threat/DPS. I have tested it many times, and people on Tankspot.com have also started noticing the drop in DPS and threat for warrior tanks (noticeable enough that people are now dieing during trash and much harder fights on bosses when warriors are tanking).

1. Has anybody else noticed it? (It's definately a change!, if you have not noticed it yourself, you maybe do not watch your damage meters enough, or have not raided since the changes - my items have not changed in many weeks, so I can visably see a change when it happens).

2. The recent posts by Ghostcrawler regarding Deep Wounds being looked at, was a very big warning.

3. Why was there no documented changes in the patch notes? (I am concious it could create some disgruntled posts, which is a big issue for Blizzard at the moment, so please be nice!)

4. Is Deep wounds definately effected, if so is there a better build to combat it?

5. Is this Blizzard's way of advising us that in order to compete on DPS we have to not miss a Bloodsurge?


My thoughts.. agreed Deep Wounds mechanics perhaps did not work too well on some bosses (Damage was perhaps too high - why not adjust it for specific bosses?). If that is the case, why nerf all of Deep wounds to the point that if there was a viable alternative we could take it. We have no choice but to choose it! So its effectively a hidden nerf. I am really hoping this is a temporary test, because at the moment, my viability in a raid just got massively diminished!

I had originally thought that deep wounds had been nerfed, but in comparing parses from before and after, I have not been able to detect ANY difference in the power of my deep wounds ticks or their contribution to my overall damage. However, I have noticed a dip in my total DPS. My best guess is that boss armor has recieved a stealth buff, but it would require actual testing to prove.

If true, it might be an attempt to buff armor pen without actually buffing armor pen.

This fits in perfectly with Blizzard's recent approach to problem-solving.

Interesting Chupacabre, I had also read that feral druids were potentially noticing a difference also, so that could well be it. Unfortunately I don't play any other classes so I cannot really comment on them. Apreciate the feedback, didn't think of that as a possibility to be honest.

Chyse, you could well be right. I know that for Ulduar, armour penetration gear is in theory getting buffed, so perhaps this is the start of it.

we're fine in pvp and fine in pve. Sorry but you just suck at warrior i guess. How hard can it get to push 4 buttons over and over?

It's not about "doing fine", it's about "noticeable differences between patches without any documentation to explain it"

I know my rotations, and know which buttons to press (more than 4!). Gear wise if you check my profile, im higher geared than yourself. I closely monitor DPS meters to try for perfection more than anything else trying to find the perfect setup of gear and rotations.

Trust me, I know about warriors about 5x more than you do. I was just farming winterspring rep before I logged on.


And I say it again - you just need to learn how to play. or better yet, learn how to adapt to changes.

Kco, I have seen many nerfs and changes, and always adapt. I guess all i am trying to do with this post is point out that some changes have obviously happened (though undocumented so far). Tankspot.com DPS forum entries indicate the same changes have nerfed DPS.

Pinpointing exactly what has changed is part of my way of overcoming the problem and adapting. I have no problems with change, was just curious if anybody else noticed a difference and seeing if anybody had any constructive comments and suggestions of how to get round it.

Just put him on ignore, he's clearly a troll with nothing constructive to add to a discussion. It's painful sometimes to come to the forums to try to stay current on things and to have to wade through posts like his to do it. I just keep adding them to ignore.

What about you Gunny, I dont know if you have noticed any differences at all? Could be a melee based thing with armour penetration. I have gear to put me upto almost 10% armour pen, will do some tests with it and see how I get on.

I haven't noticed any substantial difference in threat gen, but I'm not spec'd for dps while tanking.

Hey Guts, you could well be onto a winner, with raid buffs im usually at about 49.something% crit chance, and it could well all be linked. Good tip off, I have to get some stats to look at properly before I can figure it out, will hopefully learn something new from the changes tomorrow, hopefully clearing Naxx 25.

i personally havent seen any actual change in my percentages, i guess i will give em a hard look after farms are done this week.

Hey Wozniakk & Zomgtank, I love your gear! (GL on getting 2xBoH).

Id like to hear about your changes this week if you notice any, because you are fairly close gear wise to me and could potentially be afftected more, or just slightly if armour penetration is the issue.

i can sort of see this on the druid side aswell. Although i havent hit 80 yet, from a few small instances i can see soem effect. My spells in bear are hitting less, a possible nerf to AP. Also ill occasionally lose threat on my targets. Something could be going on here

Sarth 2d, without a feral drood =(. DW did 16% of my damage, i dont really see a nerf.

edit: idk why armory doesnt show i have berserking on my mh, not 110ap, oh well
