You know, when they nerfed Ret Pallies DPS there were weeks of posts justifying it and alot of discussion, so why do you decide to nerf arcane mages PvE damage fairly significantly, in three different ways, without even telling us its happening? "Ah well, they'll figure out why their DPS is lower eventually, I don't feel like making a post".

1. Arcane Barrage can no longer clip arcane missles for the arcane blast buff (figured this would be fixed soon).
2. Arcane Blast Glyph is apparently only 3% per stack instead of 5%.
3. Arcane Blast Glyph bonus damage is no longer applied to arcane missiles.

There's always FFB to go back to, but arcane was alot more fun while it lasted. Thanks for the warning and the opportunity to discuss the nerfs!

I've heard reports of this happening to servers while people are Mid-Raid, with mages trying to figure out why their DPS went down significantly inbetween bosses.

It's called a hotfix, and it's probably because mages are doing more damage than they should. I mean, if rogues are the baseline, then nobody should be breaking 6k.

Its not really the fact that it got nerfed, but the way it was, without a single dev post or warning and that it was rolled out in primetime last night while many people were mid-raid, instead of even waiting for today's downtime.

1) Was definitely a bug so you can't complain about that being hotfixed.
2) EJ was showing this glyph to be adding *way* more dps than any glyph currently in the game. This obviously was in need of a hotfix
3) I don't know about this one. I don't necessarily agree with it.

Most of that were actual fixes and Arcane dps really shouldn't be that low right now if you can play it correctly (Arcane has a higher skill cap then Fire or Frostfire so expect a lot of QQ)

He's stated on the forums that Arcane is a little over the top.

Poor mages finally get to see what it feels like to have the rug ripped out from under them. You're getting the same treatment as ret pallys.

Funny, the locks sit there and say "complain for a 5th spec to raid with", and "we get the best all the time" blah blah blah. Yes, locks got facerolled by Blizzard in PVP, and they're supposedly fixing it, as well as making PVE more manageable. Live with it and move on.

Back to the actual subject, this is the last thing mages really need in PVE (though, there are definitely PVP implications for those changes).

There is a major issue right now with most guilds who build raid groups really are only willing to take 1 mage for DPS, maybe two if it's a friend. Period. I've talked to people across different servers, and this is not an isolated incident. Why take a mage when you can take a shaman (good DPS, offheals if need be, cc that doesn't break on hit or heal, heroism). Why take a mage when you can take a shadow priest (ridiculous DPS, mana regen, raid buff to hit, etc), I mean, the list goes on. We're squishy, our CC is outdated, and our DPS is mediocre at best. We're being bettered by well played locks, and SPriests, with the same approximate spell power. So that means mages were and still are being looked over for anything but pugs.

Arcane was a nice change. You can actually customize how you do DPS, how survivable you're going to be, etc. And, in all honesty, Frostfire is a cookie cutter spec. To make it work, you gotta spec all these talents, and there's very little room for customization period.

Rotation: Living Momb, Scorch, Scorch, FFB til the end of time. Very very boring.

So don't fault us if we would like a bit of variety in raiding. Having four buttons to press is quite boring.
