Forgive me for being late to the party here but what exactly is the problem? No one mentions specifically what the change was and it's not covered in the patch notes either. Did they make it so that only two spark stacks are possible or something?
Edit: Just found out. For anyone who was wondering, the sparks despawn after a certain amount of time now so you can't stack tons of them.

For anyone doubting, the patch was on January 20th. Wowprogress.com tracks when guilds get a certain achievement.

Now some people have the achievement as of January 20th, those might have been last minute people who got it before the patch. My guild has it logged on January 21st, after the patch. This doesn't prove that it is possible, but it certainly casts some strong evidence in favor of it, if you are willing to believe a stranger.
Our strategy was to kill sparks after the first vortex, and then DPS Malygos fast enough that we avoided a second Vortex. As new sparks showed up our DK's brought them to the raid and blew them up on us. Before Malygos leaves during Phase 2 we managed to get him to the low 40%s. In Phase 2 we DPS'd the adds from the sparks on the ground, and then hid in the bubble when needed. In Phase 3 we had a lot of good drake riders get high stacks of the DoT on him.

It's a lot more straightforward now.
The old version was a lot harder to do without two death knights and two or three druids. It also greatly favored excluding melee.
Now it's more of a can you get him to transition before the second vortex and have good drake controllers achievement. You can better balance the damage in the second stage since it's longer so the melee favor is greatly reduced. It's actually possible probably possible with any balanced raid composition now, which I'm assuming is why it was changed. Though if you are under geared or are carrying dps you'll probably have to swap out a healer or two.
It might actually be possible to finish the encounter in under 5 minutes if you have excellent drake controllers now that I'm thinking about it. It could be they originally wanted it to be one of the hardest achievements in the game and planned it around a kill sparks immediately approach.

Ah yeah you are. Considering this is needed for Heroic Glory of the Raider, which is pointless in getting when Ulduar comes out because the drake isn't there. I don't see the point of even getting the achievement when the reward is gone.

both 10 man and 25 man achievements are possible. I completed the 10 man earlier this raid reset, and a guild on server completed it on 25 man last week. My hunter's guild logged a 6 minute kill last week also (so close >.<).
time your heroism for when the first spark dies and grip the second on top of it. our close attempts we only got 1 vortex.
in p2 grip/shoot down sparks in the air (we saw them up there alot). tell the healers to be pro and let the dps stand in the sparks even if it's not in a bubble.
speaking of healers, tell a few of them to respec. we're running 4 for our 6 min attempts.

-You don't only have to do achievements for the rewards, you can do them just to complete them, up to you
-My previous posts had nothing to do with the rewards, just the achievement itself
-It has been achievable for quite awhile now and with 3.1 just hitting the PTR there are still several weeks available to do so

With all due respect, you're delusional if you think it's going to be easy to get people to go wipe to try and complete achievements with no reward attached. The achievement collectors and the raiders usually are two seperate groups of people.
