...Which is complete and total BS for servers that have a serious faction imbalance like Dalaran. It is infinitely frustrating to be trying to recruit members for raiding cross-realm when transfers to your realm have been closed due to 50million NElf hunters.

Our guild doesn't have the option of recruiting on-server because our Horde raiding population is just that small -- it is completely contained in TWO raiding guilds, which will not be merging or sharing members any time soon.

Closing down transfers because there's too many Alliance players on Dalaran is strangling Horde's ability to progress.

REOPEN us to transfers, or just allow Horde to transfer. Injustice!

I don't think you understand the situation. PAID transfers are now closed. We were expecting several recruits to transfer over today, each PAYING $25 to come to Dalaran, and now they can't because Dalaran has too many Night Elves.

500 Instance limit is lol.

The most important thing about this spec is, you need to get your opponents health to 0 before yours.

While I do not have the issue with that particular server, I was planning to transfer over a character to Whisperwind today only to see it closed. I am fairly new to the game, is this often how it works? Do they close and reopen transfers often? Is there a chance these could be reopened soon?

The Whisperwind server is considered a "medium" volume server so I am a little confused.

No this is not a regular occurrence, and it is a MAJOR inconvenience. Servers are not often closed to transfers, especially paid ones. I am inquiring about how often/if/when servers are reopened to transfers.

Exactly. I'd like to know as well. Mine was also going to be a paid transfer. Perhaps it is just a temporary thing for a day or so? One can only hope!

The primary goal right now is to reduce the most severe queues on our realms. At its peak concurrency Dalaran saw over a 400 person queue last night. This isn't the highest queue across all US realms by any means. With that said, allowing transfers to the realm would have a greater negative impact on all players of Dalaran, than allowing Horde to transfer to Dalaran would have a positive impact.

At the largest gap last night between the Horde and Alliance populations of Dalaran, the Horde made up for roughly 40% of the total realm population to the Alliance's 60%. While faction balance is a concern for all realms, overall population and realm queues have the better part of our attention at the moment, particularly as is the case for Dalaran.

Transfers may be reopened to Dalaran if and when the realm is no longer experiencing exceptional wait times at peak hours every day.

I'm just curious, while Blackwing Lair doesn't have a queue at this time, what is the current faction imbalance for our realm in particular? Is it possible to perhaps make server transfers more dynamic, to promote Alliance transferring to our realm?

lawl I logged on Sunday at about 6:30ish...queue on Cenarius was 1100+

Queues are the reason I purchased another monitor. Yay for two hours of comic-reading!

Sunday I had to wait in a queue of just over 700 to log on and I heard that it was up in the 900s just a few hours later. I really do hate queues but fortunately I do have characters on another server where the queues aren't nearly so bad. It sucks not having the freedom some nights to switch characters on a whim but at least I do have some place to play when I am just not in the mood to wait an hour to play after a hard day at work.

It's not an optical illusion. It just looks like one.

I very much appreciate your response Zarhym, and I understand the need to close the realm to transfers, I really do. I'm sure you can imagine my frustration though, and I'm hoping you have an answer to my actual question as to how often the realms are assessed for transfer eligibility. What I mean is: we have several recruits who were expected to come over today to help fill our roster. Should we tell them to wait a week and see if transfers come up again, or are we talking about waiting a much longer time than that?
