How do you feel about PvE gear being used in arena? Is it something blizzard is happy with, or something you've thought about changing by providing everyone with a baseline pvp set (perhaps savage)?

Others feel free to give input as well for whether or not you like the use of PvE gear in arenas.

An instagib double/triple DPS team is not ever going to sacrifice the damage output their raid gear gives them and put on a full suit of PVP gear. Their gimmick is to blow by survivability on their end and their opponent. Healer teams have already adopted nearly full suits of PVP gear, and it does not alleviate the pressure adequately.

It is completely naive to think that the damage output being complained about will decrease because the instagib teams will wear full resilience gear. Survivability and defense should be a result of the player's choice and not the choice of their opponent.

Ideally, PvE gear should be what you use until you have PvP gear. The same should be true of using PvP gear to do a raid.

Weapons are a little bit of an exception, since traditionally their damage has been high and resilience low. That may be worth changing though.

Biggest problem in BC is that people usually had higher DPS PVP weapons before the PVE weapons.

So you would end up with the peoples who raids every week having 97~100dps weapons, and the pvp peoples who had 103+ dps weapons, as a rogue, it made me kinda sad since I was a PvE rogue, not pvp and the rogues with PvP gear had amazing weapons.

So until they have pvp gear (conceptually, since that's broken now too), some classes should be LEAPS AND BOUNDS above others?

Just wanted to say GC its a bit unfair that some namely melee classes can be competitive in pve gear with maybe a few pvp peices thrown in while other classes have to have a FULL set of pvp gear

Basically some classes take for instance rogues and death knights could spend most of their time doing pve and raiding and then go in and be fully competitive in pvp if they wanted to. A lock or a priest lol no way thats not even an option. so basically you get to enjoy both sides of the game as some classes while only having to do half the grind

I mean I dont know about how to fix this or if you feel its a problem but yeh it makes playing some classes a hell of a lot more appealing if you know how the game works.

Then you might want to seriously reconsider that change to resilience's budget.

Unfortunately, since Day 1, melee gear has far outclassed caster gear. It doesn't matter much in PvE because the encounter designers can throw on high physical mitigation and lower magical resists and the clothies do what they are meant to do (though in my raiding days a good rogue STILL outdid a great mage). In PVP it makes a world of difference, and it unfortunately comes down to the basic mechanics of the game, or poorly inplemented itemization. One or the other, I'm not sure...

Ideally, people should not run around with 3600 melee AP and over 20K HP while healers run around with neutered mana pools, barely approaching 20K HP, and resilience that does nothing against sustained high damage output combined with periodic stuns and silences on short cooldowns.

You cannot successfully raid in PvP gear, but you can be very successful in PvP with PvE gear, unless you are a punching bag class. Why would these people lower their damage output when they don't have to and will be less successful doing so?

This has always been a problem, especially in s4 when we saw 4/4 rogues with glaives having such an advantage over other rogues. The best solution i believe would be to make pvp gear more appealing or make pve gear less appealing for pvp. For example, dropping the amount of stamina on pve gear (right now it rivals pvp gear), so that it's less appealing to use against other players. Or resilience could use a buff that would make it almost necessary to use for pvp. Paladins right now, of almost any spec, and dks (due to plate and outs) are free to use any pve gear they want, I'm sure this isn't how these classes were intended to play. Pve gear makes pvp a lot harder to balance, which I'm sure you're aware of.

Are there any healers doing well in arena with pve gear? If not, do you consider this a problem you will be addressing in an upcoming patch?

If you change weapons to high resil / lower dmg, then no one will ever use them unless you absolutely *have* to have that extra resil to live. Otherwise, people will just use PvE weapons because they can pack in a ton of extra damage or healing from only 1-2 gear slots.

The paladin pvp gear is pretty horrible, and I am more than tempted to remain in my t7.5

Holy Shock is the bread and butter of holy paladin PvP, and by wearing gladiators' I've lost 16% crit on it. How ridiculous is that? We need Holy Shock crits to sustain ourselves and our partners in the arena and they change the set bonus from 10% crit on holy shock (7.5) to 15% increased healing on holy shock (gladiator's).

Add in the complete loss of crit from all the offspec items having mp5 instead of crit (another just amazing development decision there) and my crit drops from 34% -> 26%.

Its dumb.

Considering GC's recent comments on the subject, I think it actually IS. Their armory is showing full pve gear atm, but when I looked them up right after the match they were indeed wearing almost full deadly (both the set and the off pieces), with not a lot of resilience gear aside from weapon (from 10m horsemen). That's really stupid.

QFT. The salvation plate is awfully itemised. Either fix it, or give us options. AND why is there NO deadly healing ring???
