0. [Druid] - Polearm Update 01/05/2009 11:02:24 AM PST
Ghostcrawler/Forum Regulars,
I tried searching, but all I could find was GC saying the removal of Polearms for Druids would be looked into. I've seen no further feedback.
Is there any way we could get an update on this, or if it's been posted, I'd appreciate someone acknowledging it.
Many thanks. Just spending some free time mapping out the loot/rewards I'd like to chase, and knowing one way or the other would make a huge difference.
My chicken carries me around. You, however, have betrayed me for the last time.
Q u o t e: We think this was a problem with the PTR build. Druids will be able to train and use polearms in the next patch (3.0.8).
Good afternoon, GC.
Sometimes players are right too. Sometimes players are right even if all of your data suggest otherwise. One of the trickier talents for a game designer to master is knowing when that is happening.

Q u o t e:
Hence my post.
Any new player playing a shaman is bound to be serious confused. God forbid they actually visit worldofwarcraft.com and get mislead by the official info on there.
Staves. We can use em, but dont.
Polearms. Can't use em bu they're the only 2h itemized correctly for enhancement
Shields. Can use em, do use them, but why? Shields are for tank classes.
2h Mace/Axe. Can use them but they are not itemized properly.
2handers in general. Trainable skill, but useless for dps.
Dual wielding. The only viable option for shamans......but you need to spend talent points.
Most every ele shaman you meet will have a shield, and it helps while leveling if you're taking too much damage.
Back in vanilla 1str was 2 ap, and you stacket str, laird down your windfury totem, and watch damage happen.

Why would a druid want to use polearms when they were given staves that add thousands of AP for no additional ilvl points (sorry I don't know the correct terminology here)?

3.0.8 is changing how FAP works. We now get FAP based on the DPS of the weapon, and "FAP" as you know it will be gone. So those staves like Journey's End will be appealing to hunters as well.
