I do realize that this is the damage dealing forum, however the class roles forums seem to be the only ones that get any attention. Shards are essentially useless right now, few enchants call for them. Yet they drop from higher level items. It is somewhat frustrating that greater cosmics go for far more on the Auction house then a shard from a higher level item. Any way you can reapproriate the cost of the items for more use of shards and less use of greater cosmics?

Thanks

Some of the enchants are being changed next patch to use more dream shards. They still won't be as valuable as Large prismatics in BC, but at least they'll be worth something other than as currency to buy the enchanting recipes.

In BC we thought that dust was too common and enchants were basically gated by the cost and availability of shards. We wanted to adjust this for LK and in retrospect overcompensated, such that dust is now the rare, limiting reagent.

As Excrusiate points out, this should be better next patch.

I don't see why you can't turn Crystals into Shards and Shards into Dust.

You're essentially turning a higher form of the mat into the lower level of it.

For example, 1 Abyss Crystal turns into 2 Dream Shards. 1 Dream Shard turns into 2-3 Dust.

This would make enchanting so much easier and instead of having to get pissed when you get blue items, it's a god send to help enchanters get mats.

However, the Cosmic Essence are perfect and fit very well.

Also...

where'd the Crit chants go? Icewalker isn't much better than Blasting use to be and so far it's the only +Crit chant I've been able to find.

Oh, and tailoring? Is it just me or do you HAVE to farm clams to get pearls from the murlock people to get past a certain point? If I'm doing it wrong I'm all ears, but right now that proff is like uber-stuck because of this.

I was wondering about this outloud in a 10man run the other night. I was greatly disappointed to hear that my worthless engineering helms and trinkets were disenchanted into near worthless shards. I hadn't bothered to check the AH to sell or buy shards as I figured I'd eventually use them and had a couple stacks from DE'ing my engi level up items. Was also puzzled when I went to enchant my gear the first go around why stuff like Icewalker and Precision to gloves didn't involve shards given how great of enchants they are.

Dusts are not the issue so much as Essences. Dusts DE from any green. Essences almost exclusively DE from green weapons, which are pretty rare in and of themselves, yet also have a small chance of producing Dust when DE'd.

There needs to be chests added to instances and/or daily quests that reward green items (like those from SSO).

Why would you want to make shards less important (like in BC)? When we hit 80, some of us finish up the quests we have in the remaining zones, and that's it. We don't go out and farm greens for dust/essence, and we don't get greens from daily rewards either to DE. What we do do is heroics. We do heroics like it's going out of style. What do heroics have? Blues. The point is, while leveling up, we have dust/essence coming out of our ears from DEing quest rewards. At 80, we have shards coming out of our ears. Right now, I have maybe 2 stacks of dust/essence in my bank, and probably close to 80 shards. It's almost to the point of having to go out and farm mobs hoping a green drops so I can enchant upgrades to my gear :(

I understand that in BC, dust and essence was plentiful, and shards were not, at least, until you allowed us to break Voids into 2 shards. However, I have not been able to make a single dime on my profession simply because I do not have the extra materials to sell. In fact, it is much more profitable for me to do a Baron run and DE those greens into Eternal Essence and sell them for 15g a pop than it is to buy an Armor/Weapon Vellum, enchant it, and put it on the AH.

my kingdom for some infinite dust...I got a green yesterday, I DE'ed it and I got a dream shard... I nearly cried..

Any changes that provide more dust are fantastic...thank you for that.

I agree that the problem isn't so much the infinite dust as it is the cosmic essence.
