I've searched high and low for information about dual specs. Some questions I found answers too but others I didn't. I still have a few questions and I'm sure others do too. I'm posting this in all the class role forums.

Will the current respec costs be reset or will they stay at the current 50g max?

How about the cost of our second spec? If the respec fee starts out at 10c or 1s (I forgot what it starts as) shouldn't our "main" respec fee be reset?

I'm pretty sure this has been answered before but I'll ask anyways. In regards to hunters and exotic pets. If I spec into the 51 point talent and I go to switch to survival how will I change pets? You said you wanted it to be somewhat easy to switch between specs but nothing trivial. Will we have a second pet that is automatically summoned when we switch specs? What about the extra four points our pet's talent trees have? How will those be taken away or replaced when changing specs?

Are there any plans to make switching gear sets easier? Healers, tanks and dps roles usually carry more than one set of gear. It can take up a lot of bag space and can be rather annoying at times. Is there a way to have your gear automatically switch when you change specs?

How do you think dual specs will affect addons that modify the action bars? It seems like it will be a hit and miss. The addons will either become broken or no harm, no foul and the addons work as intended.

That's all the questions I had right now. Feel free to add your own but please keep this civil. I don't want this thread turned into page after page of complaints about how dual specs will ruin the game or what needs to be done. This is for questions only.

EDIT: Added a question I just thought of.

If you mean will respec costs be changed permanently, no. If you mean will the costs be reset or will you get a free respec when this goes live, possibly.

A respec should be a respec.

We have a solution for pets, but we're not ready to announce it yet. You'll like it.

Not automatically, but we're aware of the issue and dual spec would be a really opportune time to examine it.

I'm sure the addon authors will figure out how to make them work with the new system. Things can sometimes be a little rocky just following a patch if you use a lot of addons.

this dual-spec thing sounds great.

i'm curious any idea when this change will come live, will it be 3.0.8 or will it be more like 3.1 or even 3.2, since i'm excited about being able to have a dps spec and tank spec without having to spend 50g on the respec each time

It will definitely not be in 3.08. I must be having a hard time understanding GC's comments, because it sounded like he was saying that we will pay the same fee as before (which I thought was the main point of having 2-spec system?). I also read a comment awhile ago that seemed to indicate that the cost might be different if the respec was done in a capital city or elsewhere (i.e. In the middle of an instance/raid).

I can tell you right now that if cost of swapping between your 2 specs wont be 0, nothing, nada, nill dont waste your time on it, that is what most people want out of duals.

Indeed. I heard someone complaining about this the other day, and was flabbergasted that there are still tanks and healers who don't use outfitter or one of the equivalent adons.

I'm just interested in the actual mechanics of dual spec. Will there be a cooldown? A fee? Do I have to go to a trainer to do it? GC says a respec is a respec is a respec, but I would assume that dual spec switching will not, in fact, be considered a respec but something else entirely. If normal respec costs apply to switching between the dual specs, than where's the big advantage (I'd assume not having to go to a trainer, or else having it preset, but that seems rather lame)?

Somewhat related, I'd like to know if there's any discussion of adding a confirmation window to the respec interface. I'm sure we've all had those times when we were tired/drunk/sloppy and had to respec three times in a row because we kept messing up. Remember, friends don't let friends respec drunk!

Why would you or anyone expect it to be free?

The advantage of the dual spec system, at least from what I gather:
-Respec on the fly. No need to hit the trainer.
-Swaps hotbars and glyphs for the appropriate spec. This also means not having to replace glyphs every time you respec (I feel kind of bad for inscribers).
-Don't need to fill out your talent trees manually each time.

It's a pretty sweet setup.

I thought the complaint it was meant to address was "I spend thousands of gold a week switching from <spec> to <spec> for my guild and/or PVP," not "Gosh, isn't is annoying that the mage has to make a portal and the warlock has to summon me when I respec?"

Talented already addresses one of the "issues" you say this is meant to fix, and I believe you can get a mod to swap out your bars too.

Further, if there's not going to be any sort of discount, why limit the number of specs to two at all?

Lol that's a good point, if all its gonna do is have a spec "saved" then just add a confirm button and be done with it, a little more information on what will the cost/CD or what ever, be on swapping between both specs. That information would be very appreciated.

Seriously? This will still make them able to sell twice as many glyphs as they could before.

Just a guess, but for the same reason there is limited bag/bank space?

For each talent spec and glyph setup saved, they have to store the data server side.

I think it is also meant to reduce the cost of swapping between speccs. It won't be free, but it won't be 100g any time you want to switch from PvP to PvE specc either. Also supposedly cheaper in a major city.

So basically the only reason for me to use this system will be to save money on glyphs, and I'll have to use an addon like Talented to store my other specs.

I can see the initial set up for the main spec costing gold at whatever cost if you so choose to change your primary spec around, but with regards to the secondary spec, it should be free (for the first time setting this spec up.)

With regards to the bag space and the 3 sets of gear we carry...deal with it is my take. Blizzard could come up with a "32" !%@# armor bag which might kill the crying and make the wow life a bit more easier to play.
Isnt that why Blizzard is around? To make things simple and easy for us?

GC, can you please look into having all of my tanking, healing and ret dps'ing (divine shield should return to holy damage btw) made easier...playing this game is too hard and the helmet my mommy makes me wear while playing hurts my head. I can't carry 3 weapons and 3 sets of gear along with my consumables. Are you guys aware that I eat different foods for different raiding encounters based upon my role!!!

Crap

I now fear people complaining about needing a bag to carry all of the foods, flasks, pots etc... I'm sorry GC.

Perhaps i'm misunderstanding this, but I hope swapping between the two specs won't cost money.

I imagine altering the talent point allocation of either spec will incur a cost.
