No one will get banned for using that particular keyboard.

However, if you use the features on this particular keyboard to automate your character, in a way that violates the TOS, the you can get your account banned.

I've used one. Does that make it seem safer?

Yes, it can be used to break the TOU - don't. But using it, even using its macro buttons is fine. Do not use the tools in a way that automates your toon - sticking to macros you could make in game is usually a decent guideline. They even specifically have support for the G15's screen to display info, such as character stats, places in queue, or incoming whispers (just the names, not message).

We do not close accounts simply by the use of this style of keyboard.

The use of the automated game play features that the G15 keyboard is capable of would be considered a violation of our Terms of Use and as such should be avoided.

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/legal/termsofuse.html

Using the keyboard as a keyboard is perfectly fine.

Paranoid? Probably. But just because you're paranoid doesn't mean that there isn't an invisible demon about to eat your face.

Mine started working just by installing the regular logitech software for the keyboard - see if you need an update from their site if it does not.

Q u o t e:
auto cast

That is your key to your answer.

If you use it in such a way that it automates your character, it can / will get you banned.

The way macro capabilities are set up within WoW is that each move requires a key press. Even if you press the same key multiple times to make a three-move macro play out, you still have to press it for each move (such as <press 1> gouge ~ > <press 1> backstab ~> <press 1>sinister strike).

If you set it up so that you <press 1> and it gouge ~> backstab ~> sinister strike (or even just gouge ~> backstab) all without any further input from you, that is a no-no and you're lookin for trouble.

Does that answer your question?

So, if I understand, letting a single keystroke determine say, which mount to use (flying or land) is ok? I am also going to go out on a limb and say this goes for any programmable keyboard, not just G-15 correct?

edit: oops, not sure how I managed to dig up such an old thread, my apologies!

I have the keyboard. Here is where you can get into trouble. The 18 programmable keys can be assigned combinations of keystrokes with user defined time delays as well as looping. If you use that functionality in Wow you are looking for trouble. It's not hard for Blizzard to find this type of behavior either since you will always have the same delay between abilities. I have heard of mages using this functionality to create large amounts of water before raids. While this seems harmless it can bring big trouble your way.

It's quite possible to do this with in game macros, you don't need a programmable keyboard to do it.

Hmm, what would be the advantage of a programmable keyboard then? Would that macro be acceptable ( i hope so I use it)?

Uses other than WoW. I know, its shocking, but there ARE other things out there. Also the G15 DOES do more than just programmable macros
