Your probably right.... For awhile. But once AFK'ers get harrassed so much they will learn that it's not very advantagious to them when they spend most of their time sitting in a city with a deserter flag. Sooner or later there will be no one left to report so people will jus tplay. problem solved.

I'll try I suppose, If I die and have to res in the cave. Otherwise, my standing there for a couple of minutes reporting 20 people would just mean one less person out there fighting the opposition :/.

Reporting AFKers isn't going to get them removed from the battle. It WILL keep them from gaining honor however unless they engage in combat.
We also have some other things that are going to be changed in AV at some point as Kalgan mentioned at BlizzCon so perhaps the incentive to AFK won't be as great with the report function and the upcoming changes.
I'll be reporting AFKers if I see them.

So your logic is because I don't agree with a game design, "my way of fighting it is to waste my own time and cause grief for everyone around me."

As a horde you should be the first to notice that the map is in the horde favor. Your spawn camp is closer to the alliance side, your Lt and commanders are closer together, you have more choke points. True the alliance base does have all the npcs that will aggro you when you enter but you still have it easier.

I can't help but wonder ... What if a harsher penalty was thrown on? Anyone with the "Leechers ahoy" flag on at the end of the game is automatically given a 1 hour deserter flag for example.
