One of the concerns with nerfing Steady Shot was hurting the dps potential for Survival hunters. One of the opportunities with the nerf was to make other shots more attractive so that hunter dps wouldn't be so much about auto + steady.
Here are two changes we are going to try on the PTR.
Explosive Shot -- damage increased substantially (e.g. from 260 to 520 base at rank 4), and additional scaling added to compensate. No longer deals AE damage to other targets.
Arcane Shot -- mana cost lowered to the cost of Steady Shot.

Awesome, thanks GC. Kinda sad to see the AOE portion of ES go, but it was more of a hassle then a benefit. I would suggest changing the name to Immolation shot to fit a bit better, but Explosive sounds cooler.

Did you mean to title the post Arcane shot and Explosive Shot buffs or is there something you are doing to mortal shots that you are not telling us?

New GC Announcement: We feel like explosive shot no longer really feels explosive, so we are removing it from the game and replacing it with Trap Mastery until we come up with a skill that feels more "explosive."
...
In short, be quiet and be happy survival got a needed buff!

Replace 15% extra Arcane dmg in the MM Tree with a 1.5 sec CD for 3points? My steady shots are going to go from 1800 dmg to 1300 as soon as patch hits and this would definately be a way to force Hunters to use Arcane shot and keep them competitive in raids:) Oh and how about Mortal Shots being 3pts for 30% extra dmg on ALL SHOTS? Its almost Xmas and this is what I'd like from Blizz Santa.
