GC - We are pretty starved for news. Our rotations are complex and DPS lackluster. I'm not going to insult you by saying you don't know the issues when you clearly do. I can't speak for other locks, but it's depressing to see extremely "un-squishy hybrids" like moonkin and pallies out DPS us a "pure" spec with easier rotations.

The debuff cap is also a pain point that isn't frequently mentioned. I do have a question about shadow embrace if there is more than 1 affliction lock why doe only 1 lock seem to get the benefit? Also sometimes with all my DOT's up and the target within "execute health" drain soul only does 1200 a tick and other times it it at 6+K. Can you see if these abilities are bugged?

GC-
This is a big deal to me. I was very much looking forward to wrath and spent quite a bit of time this fall getting ready to pvp on this toon (honor points, epic flier, badges, new professions, etc). I know I'm not the best in terms of arena rankings etc, but I'm a committed PVP player and wish to continue. What happens in the near future to the lock class will determine if I keep up with WoW our find something else to do.

Thank you for your daily responses. Strong work, especially over the holiday.

As far as Affliction rotations go, GC posted this the other day:

Q u o t e:

We have been talking about a couple of different approaches to warlock rotations. One is to try and make more of the dots last around the same duration so you aren't watching them quite so much. Another is just to lower the standard rotation from having so many dots. These are both things we are working on but it's too early to say what the changes will end up being.

They're still talking about it, so I personally doubt anything has been actually tested yet. I would like them to be a little more specific, much like how he laid out the DK stuff recently. Of course, while it would be foolish to assume that Blizzard has class favoritism, I can't help but feel disappointed.

The fact that my guild had four extremely active locks since we stepped into Hyjal, and now are reduced to ONE level 80 raiding lock (I'm leveling a DK atm) speaks volumes to me.

The fact that this mass re-roll extends to just about every other guild on my server makes me laugh.

The fact that many of the most active Warlock advocates , many of whom are not FOTM but long time patrons of the class, have all since rerolled, makes me angry.

The fact that SEVEN MONTHS of warlock Beta feedback was almost all completely ignored, has shown me the error of my ways.

I have rerolled DK.

Q u o t e:
Make sure locks do rogue / hunter / mage level dps at 80.
Easy and quick to solve.

Q u o t e:
Make sure locks have enough survivability in PvP (since we nerfed a lot of it).
Hard and complicated. Should take a lot of time.

Q u o t e:
Fix some of those deep Demo talents that really aren't worth the investment.
Somewhat simple and fast to solve, judt hope they do it RIGHT.

Q u o t e:
Make shards more interesting and less of a hassle.
Make it more interesting = hard and take a lot of time. Make it not use a bag slot = quick and simple.

Q u o t e:
Get the Voidwalker (and possibly Succubus?) back out.
Very hard. Should take a lot of time.

Q u o t e:
Look at the dps spells that cost shards.
Simple and fast.

Q u o t e:
Try and make more of the dots a consistent length, so that Affliction's rotation doesn't require such a big brain.
Somewhat simple, should take a moderate amount of time. I just hope they do it RIGHT.

Q u o t e:
Get dots to either scale with crit or just crit.
Very simple and quick.

Kalgan:
"Berserking: no longer has an activation cost of energy/rage/etc"

Note 1: Energy comes first.
Note 2: What does the "etc" stand for? Kalgan couldn't remember.

I'm all for Warlocks' dots getting crit, however, can you imagine the threat a string of dots critting would actually cause? Or how OP that would be in PvP where, it could be possible, for 6 straight ticks could be massive crits?

Yes, I get it, the irony of rogues critting all the time. However, **if** you can get away from a rogue and start kitting it, it can't crit since it is not hitting you; yet, you can toss 5 dots on a PvP target and crit it the live-long day while hiding behind a pillar.

Therefore, dots critting is a serious issue that has to be addressed considering both sides of the equation (PvE/PvP), although I think it is retarded that this game is balanced around a glorifed duel in a box.

That applies to every single class. Literally. Even if rogues can stop critting you, warlocks have too many dots to get more than 2 damaging ones out at a time on every target, not 5. You can stop a warlock's DPS, and its 5 dots after being applied wont last more than another 8 seconds.

Spells don't crit for double the base damage as a base stat. Warlocks don't have a class passive ability that says "unlike common casters, your dots deal double the damage on crits". Warlocks don't have another talent to increase dots critical damage bonus even further for 30% or 45% bonus.

TRANSLATING. If X player is resil capped with 33% reduction to crit damage =
noncrit dot = 100% dmg
crit dot = 100% dmg

Unfortunately I don't have any new news and I hesitated to post after the posts above that didn't want to see a claim that we're looking into something. (Sorry, man, that's what we do.)

Our goal hasn't changed and the bullets you posted at the top of the thread are still generally valid. We talked about locks just this morning, but I don't have any upcoming announcements yet. I'm sorry I can't always grace every thread with promises of buffs and new abilities, but we try to be careful with the changes we make. The fact that we still manage to break things sometimes suggest that we might not even be careful enough. Fear not, locks. We hear you.

I'm raiding tonight with another aff lock. I was happy to see the debuff limit was removed (check the dungeon forum).

Am I going to be a sad panda or does shadow embrace actually work properly now?

We can figure this out, we're smart people.

Dont worry, alot of us already realize that no positive changes will be made to our class until after enough data is gotten from your precious new arena season, well ill tell you exactly what will happen.

Melee when paired with healers like resto druids, and disc priest will dominate.
