Hello to everyone,

There's been a group of us scouring over WWS and random Combat Logs from Naxx/Obsidian/Malygos and we've seen no indication that Parry Hasting is in effect on any of the current endgame bosses. Does anyone have logs that prove differently?

Is this a bug or intended?

Thanks.

Blizzard had commented they were removing that mechanic for WoTLK.

All I've learned from this game is that if the fate of the world depends on 25 random people clicking on cubes at the same time, we're pretty much hosed.

You have that backwards. They remove crushing blows by +3 level mobs, but parry haste remains.

This is correct. They were somewhat related (and thus, confusing) because a boss could get parried hasted attacks and eat shield block charges before the cooldown was back up leading to a crushable tank.

The reduced swing time for a creature's next swing after it successfully parries an attack still exists in the game, and the vast majority of all creatures in WoW use the mechanic. Note that we have the ability to flag specific creatures to not be affected by this mechanic if we so choose for balance purposes. An example of such a creature would be Patchwerk, a very high melee damage dealing raid boss.

Any other mobs that we should be aware of that dont benefit from parrying an attack? Would be nice to know for gear choices for that fight while working to get through it.

parry haste is still there.

the main boss type its removed from is bosses with saber lash mechanics where you need multiple tanks standing on top of each other. I dont know which WotLK bosses dont parry haste (but assume patch doesn't from the blue post). In TBC Halazzi and Mother Sharraz didn't parry haste due to their saber lash attacks.

Doesn't it seem like kind of an oversight that the new tanking class essentially kills itself with it's own mitigation?

I see DK QQ and Parry nefs in our future.

Not trying to antagonize Blizzard but seriously this seems like something that wasn't brought up during development.

I think you're confused. "Parry haste" occurs when the mob parries you, not when you parry it.

If anything they should complain that there's no two handed tank swords in the game and dual wielding causes parry gibbing.

The latter is a valid complaint. While we don't need 2H tank weapons, these are used for our threat (notice how most Prot Warriors are using DPS swords now?) - so, it *would* be nice to get a few in here for mitigation fights but it's not needed atm.

Yes when the mob parries, it receives the haste, but one would think, if you're attacking faster you can be parried more often?

This is why Haste, Dual-wielding, and Parry is bad for a Deathknight Tank.

Look at how much defense rating I have stacked in my gear. I'd really like to be able to gem something other than +16 def and enchant things other than defense in my slots. Other classes get tanking stats on 1hs and shields, and can enchant defense to shield. It could easily have been added to exalted ebon blade, as it is I feel crippled in my gear selection.

Or perhaps blizzard could adjust our strikes to not be as reliant on weapon range, as all tanking weapons seem to be modeled for heroic strike (fast, and as a result low range)
